Love my Voice Clarifying Amplifier
I have trouble hearing children and women when they speak. I was reluctant to get a hearing aid even though I knew it was inevitable. When I saw the Voice Clarifying Amplifier in the Sharper Image catalog I did some checking on line for reviews; quality and clarity were the two comments I remember reading several times. After having my device for a couple of weeks, I have to tell you, I forget I have it. Every once in awhile I have to take it out to make sure it's working and then it becomes obvious that it is. Love this product and I'm going to see about getting another one for the other ear.

Better than theatre amplifying headsets
I use this in theaters where there is no background noise. The sound amplifying headsets used in theaters often do not work or have an echo or static. The $5,000 hearing aids significantly reduce background noise and amplify those frequencies weakest in your own hearing abilities. But the price difference is enormous.

Better than more expensive hearing aids
I gave it to a friend with a conventional hearing aid. It worked much better than the one he was using, and even better in combination with his old hearing aid. I plan to buy another to replace is old one completely (except as an emergency backup). Background fan noise etc. is no longer amplified, drowning out voice, and he is able to understand voice communicaiton and attend workshops and meetings because he can understand what is said. It is much less prone to feedback than his old hearing aids. I found out about the device from a Buddhist friend, ordered it for my friend, and I highly recommend this product. The only problems are that the controls are tiny and he finds it difficult to insert it while covering the microphone, resulting in feedback during insertion.
