Great office air broom
I use this filter in my office at home (only place on earth I can smoke anymore) and it serves its purpose to sweep away smoke odors in timely fashion.

Cool Thing!
Really cool and unique design, requiring no expensive filters to constantly buy. It's a new technology and might take a while to catch on, but when it does... watch out HEPA monopoly! I think I got the last one as Sharper Image has sold out and won't be restocking, but I believe it is available directly from the company at sgblue.com.

Pros and Cons
The first one of these that I received had a faulty control panel. I can say that this unit really does help. And I have had good and bad purifier purchases, so I know the difference. Be aware if placing this purifier on top of something that it will need an exceptionally strong piece of furniture to hold it. My game plan has been to alternate one of these with a HEPA and carbon based purifier (that moves air faster) in every other room. I had two purifiers total when I purchased these and now have 5--2 of them this SGBlue model. Eventually I will get a 6th of some sort. That will cover most of the rooms. Be aware in purchasing air purifiers that even if they claim ability to purify wide areas, that will only be feasible with an extremely open floor plan and is still not recommended. Most houses do well with one small area purifier per room. What I did not anticipate was how these machines would alter the humidity of the home significantly. The home is not "humid" per se, but it is definitely no longer dry. There are pros and cons to that. A little more moisture is probably actually good for the wood panelling in two rooms. One con is that I sometimes need the heat or cold on a little stronger to cut the moistened air better (however this is such a power efficient purifier that I think this makes up for using a bit more heat or cold). One pro is that b/c my body is adjusted to a higher humidity in the home, when damp cold fronts come, they do not effect my bones as much as they used to. I'm really doing a lot better as a result. One con is that the frequent refillings (every 3 days or so for me) are a pain. I use a small long-necked aluminum plant waterer for this purpose and make 2 or 3 trips to each purifier with it. I have been having great difficulty with VOCs from the oil used to lubricate my gas furnace. In the dead of winter it gives me bad asthma and a racing heart. At other times, it just makes me very uncomfortable and nauseous, etc. I have not yet had the opportunity to use these in the winter and so do not know if they will be sufficient or if I need to supplement my purification systems with an Airpura V600. But I can say that during a Spring cold spell this week, I was feeling sick from the oil. I decided to add a little more enzyme to the unit (they recommend that those with significant chemical sensitivities use twice as much enzyme each month), and I realized the next night that the air was feeling sweet and that I was having no reactions. Now the air is always worst the first time it kicks on, but I'm quite sure I'd be bothered by it today if I did not have these units. So it is passing the first substantive test I've given it well. We will see if it needs further supplementation in the fall/winter.
