Second one for me
This one is actually quieter than my first one. Only one filter to replace and usually lasts 5 years. No maintenance and everyone should vacuum at once a month as recommended.

HAVE TO GET A NEW FILTER. IT IS AMAZING HOW DIFFERENT THE ENVIRONMENT IN MY HOUSE IS WITHOUT THIS RUNNING. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS. ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY.

Clears the air
A friend recommended this product to me after I told her how a neighbor smoked and it definitely does the job well - within hours of turning it on our apt smells smoke-free! It's a bit awkward to place, especially since it isn't supposed to stand against a wall, but once that was settled it's been a breeze.

Lifesaving.
I recently moved into a high-rise apartment, my first time. A neighbor seriously smokes and the 2nd hand smoke not only made my apartment smell like an ashtray, it posed a serious health problem for me as my lungs have been compromised due to an autoimmune condition. I tried smaller units that worked better with my decor -- they didn't do the job, at all. I put in one of these 700 sq foot units in the bathroom, the point of entry for most of the smoke, and within 24 hours I could tell the difference. I added a second unit to my main living area, and within 3 days, I couldn't smell or feel a thing, anywhere. At one point, I was planning to move, the smoke was that bad! I'm now back to being happy to return home each day. I mentioned that the units are a little noisy on the higher levels, but nearly silent on the lowest one. I'd equate the noise to a house fan. I keep the unit in the bathroom on high at all times, but adjust the unit in my main living area down if I'm watching tv, for instance, and return it to high whenever I leave the apartment.

Great for pet dander
I bought this to help fight my husband's allergy to a cat we're caring for temporarily. The first night he eye didn't get red and sting like it does usually. I do wish it was on wheels so it was easy to take from room to room, but so far it's working great!

Great Product
The best way for me to see if an air filter is working properly is to see how much dust is flying in the air as the sun is hitting the room. With the use of this device, I saw no more/less floating in the air. As for taking care of the smell once the cat(s) has taken a dump, it works within minutes! We don't have an exhaust fan in the powder room where the cat litter box is. I was considering to get a handy man out to install one before this air filter was ordered. It's now longer necessary. I'm giving this a 4/5 only because the two higher settings are really loud.
