Best Sound Quality Available, Tried and Tested Sounds
I have the original version of this machine, which was created by Brookstone. At some point, Sharper Image acquired earlier Brookstone models. Build quality is excellent and the sounds are a combination of the original Brookstone Tranquil Moments II and later sound cards released for that system. The "Enhance" feature slows sounds over 20 minutes to lull you to sleep and lead to some trippy effects on some sounds. The blend feature is quite nice and can be quite soothing when combining sounds to create your own mood. I'll use this machine when I prefer natural sounds, at other times I prefer the Brookstone 12 which includes a handful of powerful soundscapes designed by a sleep scientist that are surprisingly effective and avoid the cheesy, yoga studio new age pitfalls that other machines fall into. This is a great machine and at the top of its class.

I wasn't going to write a review, however I have NEVER slept soooooo well . This machine has the BEST quality of sounds ...some for sleep ...others for relaxation ....my dog loves it also ....he sleeps all night long without moving a muscle !!

Worth paying more for good quality sound, extra features
I discovered when I ordered a less expensive sleep sound machine that I would be willing to pay more for better audio quality so I bought this one and it was the right move! After all, its the sounds you're going to listen to for long periods.The controls make sense - separate groups for radio and sound therapy and alarms. None of these multipurpose switches! Once you set it up sound therapy is easy to turn on and off,and it retains your sound choice and timer setting, but it's simple to change to a different sound. There are several variations of moving waters /waves/tides. This must mean these are the most popular. To me some other settings have too many birds. There's a bio/sync setting that is pleasantly neutral and calming and that's what suits me best at the moment. There are two musical items - bamboo chimes, Asian sarod. This will not run on batteries (backup service only). There is a headphone jack, input jack, and a jack to control your room lighting or bedside lamp.

Love this lil' machine !
I bought two of these. They are great. I had them for years. I go to sleep with the sound machine every night. I can not sleep without the wonderful sounds. I have had other sound machines and this one has good, quality, crisp, sounds. It has two alarms that you can set. I love it!

This is the best sleep-sound alarm clock ever. It's an alarm clock radio with sleep sounds. The controls are easy to use. It offers many soothing sleep sounds to help you fall asleep. And you can set it to wake you to those same sounds, or music, or a buzzer. One compact package that does it all.
