Awesome product. I have it set up in a central part of home, but I also move it around. It has excellent sound quality from a small sized speaker!

Balanced, full sound

The Bose produces one of the best sound profiles of any compact bluetooth speakers of its size, and is well worth the premium. Bass and mids are full and room-filling. The speaker can easily fill a small, quiet room, and plays at its maximum volume setting while avoiding distortion. The lack of distortion is a pleasant tradeoff from other speakers that might produce higher levels, but distort or become harsher at volume. The highs are somewhat muted, but this doesn't take too much away from overall sound. The balanced bass is superior to the bigger, more expensive Soundlink III, which is boomier and less natural (though louder). The speaker comes with a charging dock, which makes charging easier - just drop the speaker into the dock, without any need to hunt for a port to stick a plug into. It can also be charged by charging port, to save space while traveling (it's a round connector, not MicroUSB).
