easy to use once you know how
For anyone not tech savvy, there are no printed directions for getting to the letters you need or the numbers; I needed help from someone & then it was fine. Seems like a good idea!
Very easy to use
Easy way to keep track of all your passwords in one location. I no longer have multiple slips of paper all over my desks at home and work now that I have the Password Vault. I just carry this in my purse and all my passwords and Internet addresses are in one easy to find location.
Password Vault
I like that it is compact enought to fit into a purse, luggage so that it is available to me at anytime. The security on the vault ensures that it will be difficult for anyone to retrieve any of my passwords. Would make a wonderful Christmas, graduation or birthday gift.

Seems to work
Seems to be very cheaply made, does not slide easily. Hopefully with great care it will hold up and work bur i dont anticipate that. Great idea, wish i could find one more durable. Returns are not that simple for Sharper Image so I kept it.

Now my husband doesnt have to always ask me for the passwords for the things he doesnt remember! Its not at his fingertips!!

I bought this for myself, as I have my passwords in my wallet, my cellphone, and even on some scraps of paper. This password vault now keeps all of them together and its now they are much easier and faster to find. I wish Id thought of this item!
Just what I wanted
Functions well, very basic, not sure if that is a pro or con, so easy to use, which is important.

a nice device
I am trying to get the hang of using it. When I put in the wrong letter and try to delete just that letter it deletes everything. I have to work with it a little more.
Concept is good
The concept is good however the entry of passwords can be tedious at first (I had 80 passwords to enter). The scrolling process to find a PW can be tedious
finally, only one password to remember!
Most people are guilty of writing down passwords and storing them on their computer...bad idea. And its really not a good idea to auto save passwords either. The vault is small enough to carry around so you can take it to work or on trips when you might need to use a computer other than your own. Easy access and secure. Ill be getting another one for my son when he goes to college.
Great Idea but difficult to use
With everything requiring passwords and user names and the ever increasing identity theft threat, this is a long overdue product. I would be willing to pay a bit more for higher quality. The technology exists today for a more user friendly, easier to use product. When someone comes up with it I will buy it. For now however this product serves my needs.

it functions as advertised
I would rate this higher but it uses the "old" keyboard. A telephone keyboard, so you have to hit the keys multiple times to type. Takes a while to get out passwords and ids. Otherwise it is a very basic password keeper and so far has worked as advertised.
Good Concept, Faulty Execution
Would be best if it could be loaded directly from a computer database. Should be slim enough to fit in a wallet. No need for a keyboard...USB or Bluetooth connection to a laptop would suffice.

Great item
I use this product almost every day. Its a great little item to add to your office especially if you have numerous passwords to remember. The only down side to it is that the cover does not open far enough and can make typing difficult. Otherwise it does its job very well and is a durable little gadget.

Great While it Worked
I puchased this product as a gift for my husband last March so it is not even a year old as yet. It has a 90 day warranty although if you are storing passwords you certainly expect it to last for some time. It did work very well and my husband used it daily until two days ago when it suddendly stopped accepting the main password to open. We tried to reset and change the battery to no avail.We googled the problem and found many folks have encoutered the same issue with no solution.Sharper image was not able to offer much help. They did give me their Vendor phone contact although that persons voice mail was full so I was not able to leave a message...not a ggod sign.
Great idea but it needs to work or they need to be able to fix the bugs.

Password Vault saves the day
Keeping track of passwords is a bit of a pain and you dont want to write them down for the whole world to see. This is a user friendly gadget and quite helpful. I wish it had a querty keyboard instead of one where you press twice for the second letter, three times for the third but it takes up very little space on your desk (and, yes, you need a Password to get into it.) Very worth the money.

Tedious to use, and poor instructions
I use this ONLY to backup my online PW vault. It is too slow to access it regularly, and definitely takes too long to add or edit regularly. Once yes, always, no. It has a very fragile feeling and warns not to shake or drop-could break internal circuit boards. Understandable, but suspect this may not take long, even on an accidental basis. Nice to have a backup to my online, in case it goes awry. Really expected more for the price. And to clarify, I WOULD recommend to a friend for the same limited, but important uses that I have listed. Not bad, just not as great as I had hoped for. Guess I was hoping for American made. Thanks.

Great memory helper, not so great input
I have many password protected accounts. This helps keep them all near without memorizing all the data. Any changes can be edited fairly quickly. With the old style keyboard, entering data is a bit of a chore.
GOOD IDEA - COULD BE VASTLY BETTER
This is a great idea that wasnt executed very well. On the pro side it is very secure and dependable due to the lock-out feature and flash memory that wont lose your data even if the battery runs out. On the con side it is bulky making it hard to carry all the time, has no way to back it up so if it breaks all is lost, has no backlight and (in the beginning) is extremely difficult to input new items although once you do editing of the passwords is not too bad if you change frequently. The main problems are (as mentioned) inputting is extremely tedious due to the old cellphone style keyboard, there are very few special characters if you use them in passwords and looking up data is extremely tedious also if you have a lot of entries due to no search or scroll functions so you must click one by one through the entries and if you go back to the main menu you must do that all again. If you have 400 entries, advertised as a plus getting to the middle ones would be a real task as a big minus. But mostly this mach
Make life easier
Remembering so many user names & passwords gets more & more difficult, but with this compact device it is possible to go with a tough-to-break opener and get to all of the info you need to have secure. Works well even for a few users in a single household to agree on the code to get into the device and have it all handy.
A GREAT LITTLE "TOOL"!
We wanted a small, lightweight item that we could always have with us either at home or when we travel that would keep all our usernames and passwords safe OFFLINE. This is a perfect little gadget that does just that, and I am so glad we found this!

Pretty Nifty
This is great if you travel and want to stow passwords securely. Unlike using a device to store the info on your computer, no one else can use this gizmo, since it requires secure info to enter the "vault". A little laborious to use, but probably worth the effort.

Password Vault keyboard a pain
I use this to hold all my passwords at home and for travel. It uses a password to allow access to all content, so its more secure than carrying around a written list of passwords. The alpha numeric keyboard is a pain for entering info, and its a bit clunky, but again, its better than carrying around a written list of passwords, especially when traveling.

Very handy gadget
This is a handy gadget if you have many passwords to remember. The main problem I have with it is I have to hold it under a light to read the display as it doesnt seem to have any backlighting. It cannot be used effectively in dim light.

A little clunky to use ...
Cool idea and eliminates the whole password-on-a-sticky note conundrum which is attractive for business owners with website, banking, and e-commerce ids. Design is not very sleek for those of us who are used to blackberries and iphones. Could use a little updating. The concept is great, but the design is a little too retro (and not in a good way). Its sort of like a flat screen monitor versus the old bubble monitors. Whod want to go back to the bubble?

Too bad you have to scroll down the whole list of entries to find your item instead of going to a letter of the alphabet first. However this password vault is still a very good product.
nice product, poor entry directions
If one is not tech savvy, the directions for entering specific letters and numbers is not in the user directions. I had to ask someone else how to get the letters and numbers I wanted entered to show up. It would get a 5 star rating if not for this issue.

This is great for IDs and password you do not use on a daily basis, especially for those of us getting older and harder to remember every password, especiaslly when they tell you make sure you vary them for safetys reasons
Great Idea - Easy To Use
This device really met a need!
Wish it had a lighted screen!
I was excited to purchase this item since I have trouble keeping passwords straight. The keyboard is archaic and awkward to use. It doesnt have the ability to use certain characters and its a pain to enter the ones it does use. It would be nice to have the screen light up, you have to get it in the right light to read it or type on it. Great idea but needs refined.

This gadget is not worth the trouble! I almost sent it back after spending hours entering data, but stuffed it in a drawer instead.
Sound product
I like the safe for saving my passwords, but wish it had a separate number keyboard, or shift to numbers. Its really slow to use with letters and numbers combined. I also wonder what happens when the battery has to be changed.

Once the info is entered the paper notes are tossed and life should be safer and more organized.

I dont like the fact that I cant have the same password for everything, I just cant remember them all! The Password Vault is great and not to big to carry around. Now I have all my passwords at my finger tips, Im very happy with it.

Easy to use and secure
Great way to organize and keep safe all of your computer/other passwords. Works well with computer passwords but also lock combinations, answers to special security questions. Would be better if more symbols included on the keyboard. However, remembering one password to this little box is far better than trying to remember all of your secrets.

This tool has eliminated my frustration at trying to remember so many different passwords. I now can stop jotting down passwords (as I SHOULDNT) and quickly enter them in the unit.

saw in another review that keyboard did not lock in open position but, this is not true > you just need to give it a little extra push and you will feel it lock in place . i had no problems with this product > works very well !!!
Very Compact way to keep passwords safe
I travel a lot. This makes it easy to keep track of my passwords whereever I am without having to work hard to access or update my password list. I find it cumbersome when having to wade my way through the alphabetic list. Would be nice to have an option to go to a specific letter or do a find. It also it awkward to enter numbers and special characters. It would be nice to have a shift option like a regular key board. The special character option is very limited. It would be nice to have a few more which are more commonly used in passwords such as the $ and the &. The notes section is a little limited.
needs quicker way to switch # to letters
Loading it is very slow because of the awkward way of switching from letters to numbers. There were no directions on how to shift from numbers to letters. Could be excellant device once loaded.
