DONT BUY!
I got it for a gift for Christmas 2009. It worked for a while - maybe 60 days. It wont recharge and theres no recourse because there was no warranty card in the box. but it looks cool on the counter by the wine!
Stay Away
I recieved this product as a gift. Worked fine the first time. Second time, the cork would not eject. Got the cork out and next time the same thing. Tried to get it replaced under warranty but Sharper Image refused since I didnt have an order number. I explained it was a gift and didnt have one. Bottom line, worked once, now in the trash.
Do Not Buy
I bought this brand, out of all the others, because of the quality of the name...boy was I wrong, the cork on most of the bottles I have opened with it have gotten stuck inside and wont come back out...I finally got a pair of niddle nose pliers to hold the cork in place while backing out the cork...Only to have it do it time and time again. My friend has an Emerson for half the price and it has opened every type of cork I have tried with it.
Does not work!
I received this as a Christmas present. No matter how I try to work this (simple) opener, I either do not get the cork out of the wine bottle, or worse, the cork is destroyed into tiny pieces INTO the wine! I just cant figure out the trick to this, if there even is one! Back to my good old cork screw that always worked!
An Easier Way to Wine
After having used a rabbit- type wine opener for many years, my husband saw a friends motorized opener and wanted to try one. We decided Sharper Image would probably have a reliable product...and we were right! An additional benefit is that I no longer have to ask him to open a bottle for me when I need wine for a recipe; the motorized opener requires no "brute strength"!
wine opener w/foil cutter
I purchased one of these for my son-in-law for Christmas, and also one for myself. Really cool, except when I opened a bottle with a plastic cork, I could not get the cork to come out. It just keeps turning around and around. If I ever get it out, I will only open bottles with real cork stoppers.
Semi Satisfied
I actually already had my own Oster Meyer electric wine opener for my place but I loved it so much that I wanted to get one for my boyfriend for his birthday so thats why I bought this one. I like it ok, it works fine but its a little loud and if you dont hold it perfectly straight it kind of shreds the cork but for the most part it was good.
Synthetic Corks are a problem
I received one of these wine openers as a gift. And it is wonderful .... except on synthetic corks. Dont try to use it on chilled wine with a synthetic cork. The corkscrew part broke off in the cork, but I liked it so much Im buying another. It does have the best foil cutter ever!
poor charge`
The unit worked great for about 3 months. Then would not recharge and has not worked since. would not recomend to my friends.
synthetic corks
Hi: This opener does not work with synthetic corks at all. I had an Oster brand for over a year and it handled all corks. Over the years Ive had the rabbit, the two handled type and the Oster. Ive finally learned how to use a waiters corkscrew but the SI one was a gift. Im not thrilled to say the least as so many vinters are going with synthetics.
Wine opener
opener turns to fast to remove real cork corks. Ruined three bottle of $50+ bottles of wine because the opener shredded the cork rather than removing it. If you drink fine wine do not get this product.
What a Great product!
Bought this as a gift for someone who is vision impaired. So easy to use I ended up getting one for myself!
Disappointment
Received this for Christmas and was very excited, we entertain a lot and had always wanted an anutomatic opener. Worked for first 2 bottles, then cannot get the cork out! Have tried a number of times, every time I walk into the kitchen I try. Forget it!
mot. wine opener
Very frustrating. Mine doesnt work at all. May have gotten one bottle open. Hope I just got a lemon.
very disappointed
I received this for Christmas and MAYBE of the 10 times I have tried to use it, it has worked properly twice. It doesnt matter how straight you set it above the bottle it will twist the cork and then the cork will fail to come out. VERY disgusted with it!
This thing sucks
Whoever designed this...you were overpaid for what was the end product. Have you ever used this thing? When it finally takes the cork out...estimate 2-5 minutes the next adventure is getting the cork out of the device. Poor planning, design, etc. Save your $40 for a decent bottle of wine.
