Ive Been Looking for This for YEARS!
Ive bought and returned a few magnifying lights because they couldnt adjust to the angle I needed. This light is COMPLETELY adjustable! Also, the large magnifying area allows me to see much more of what Im working on than any other light out there. I LOVE this product, and highly recommend it!!!
Purchased a second one!
Purchased this for my 91 year old grandmother losing her vision due to macular degeneration. She loves to read and this has enabled her to sit in her favorite chair and comfortably read without any problems. Grandma still manages all of her own banking and bill paying and the family ordered a 2nd one for the kitchen! It has increased her activity and self worth tremendously. Thak you.

User is a senior with parkinsons. The hands free magnification is great but the neck is difficult to bend.

I bought this as a gift for my 92 year old mother
She likes the size and the magnification (power)
But, it is tippy on carpet and difficult for her to move the lens to a position that is comfortable for reading.

My parents are in their 70s and were both starting to have trouble reading their newspapers and books, so I saw this product and figured Id get it for them, especially after a few other nice reviews on it. Well, it was perfect for them. My Dad almost tackled me the next time I came to visit them after they received it as a gift, and they both share it between each other during the day for reading different items. Magnificent Magnifier!!
I finally found it! A daylight lighted hands-free magnifier that allows me to see the entire page of my books and magazines. For a long time, Ive been reading with a 5" magnifier. Its been difficult because you need to reposition the magnifier or move the book back and forth under the magnifier in order to see the text. Now I dont have to work tirelessly in order to relax. It is also great for my sewing and needlepoint activities because I not only see the fine details when I thread a needle but the colors are true because of the daylight LEDs. The quality construction makes me feel confident about the life of the lamp and the assembly was easy for this old woman. I will be buying a second one for my bedroom and a third for my sisters birthday.
I would buy & suggest product to anyone
I have trouble reading in low light and I needed to see the words be larger. This lamp is the best because it takes care of my biggest issues with my reading. I CAN READ EASILY. I can see what I read. "I have new eyes." I couldnt be happier with a solution that this. Thank you VERY much.

Excellant Product
Purchased for my 90 year old mother who struggled daily to read the newspaper with her hand held magnifying glass. She did have to adjust to how she sat and held the paper since she was used to hunching over to get the light and glass in the right position. Now, she can sit back, put her feet up and relax while she reads. Excellant product
OK but
I wanted to use this for reading, working on cross stitch projects, etc. When sitting in any chair it was too high for me to see thru comfortably. My husband had to remove one joint of the pipe used for the stand. He commented on the lack of a sturdy connection of the pipe to the base of the lamp. It just slides into a hole. It needs threads or a set screw or at least a rubber grommet to make it sturdy. The only way to move the lamp is to pick it up by the base itself. Works but leaves a lot to be desired.
Magnifier lamp
Bought this for my elderly mom. Problem is, she is very short and the lamp height only adjusts with the gooseneck. I had a hard time getting it at a height that would allow her to use it. She said it would bug her to have to keep adjusting the lamp part. Also, she reads paperbacks, and there is considerable distortion in the crease.

Elderly need more magnification
Was a gift for elderly uncle and I found it to be fuzzy on the perimeter and not enough magnification to easily read standard print from a book or newspaper. Needs more magnification. Nice size and adjustability with good lighting made it good for my wife to use for mending and some fine sewing handwork. Ill see how it works for fly tying some day!

My mother was having trouble reading and I purchased this for her. She is in love with it. Says she does not know how she got along without it. Talks about it everytime I call her. The base is heavy and does not fall over when she swings it away from her chair. Excellent product.

Looks are deceiving!
The magnifier is good for reading but difficult to relocate because the base is not attached to the top of the lamp, requiring that you slide it or pick up the weighted base.
I love my lamp!
I have very limited eyesight and this lamp has greatly improved my ability to read mail, newspapers, etc.

Magnifier lamp
I really love this lamp, as do others who have seen it at my home. I will be buying another for a Christmas gift. I only wish that the magnification could be higher. I use this all the time for reading textbooks. It has really helped save time since I am not going back an forth from holding a magnifiying glass. It also has reduced eye pain from reading for long periods of time.

I use it for everything. Im losing my sight and this is GREAT!! I have 3 of them placed about the house so I dont have to move them. I even us it when Im reading on my iPad.

Sorry to say I never got a chance to use the floor magnifing lamp reader. There wqas a malfunction in the product and it didnt work, I had to send it back.

We purchased this magnifier floor lamp for my mother who has macular degeneration at age 89. I had purchased a different one from another store but the magnifying light was way too small for her reading and so forth. She can use that one in the study for paying her bills. But for her I-pad, mail and reading material the Sharper Image light is the best around! Thank you. It was on back order but it was worth waiting for.
Reading Lamp
I am using the reading lamp to work on my cross stitch. It is great to work with the light above and out of way,but the lights werent quiet bright enough so I wired another lamp I had previously above the screen to give me more light.
Easy on the Eyes
I have searched for several months to years looking for something that would aid my aging eyes to continue a hobby that I enjoy so very much. The older I have gotten, the harder it has become to continue in this hobby due to poor eyesight. Everyting I had tried or envisioned never met my expectations until I saw this item on Sharper Image. It is perfect! This item has rescued the lovely cross stitch that will hang upon my walls!
I really wanted to like it.
I really wanted to like this item. My daughter gave it to me for Mothers Day. I do counted cross stitch. I loved the size of the viewing area and the light was okay. My big problem was that when I got it just right and then moved just a little, the glass distorted the whole thing. I started to get headaches and my eyes were sore from trying to look through it. It may be fine for reading books or papers, but not for stitching.

This does well for reading. Grooves in the glass for magnification prevent seeing the date on a coin, but reading and other activities are enjoyable. Substantially built.
Super magnifier lamp!
I use this for my beading work, sewing, and reading. I can even read the phone book! The magnifier is truly a full-page viewer, and magnifies larger than any other hands-free device I have experienced. The base is higher and wider than I expected, so I need to figure out how to get it next to my chair, but I think that is why it is so stable. There has to be a trade-off, I think. It is a super investment.

Great tool for my visually impaired dad
My 80 year old dad has lost most of the vision in his right eye. Available large print materials help but this lamp makes it possible for him to read anything - no matter the size of the print.

WHAT A GODSEND
I purchased this product for my Dad for Fathers Day this year. My Dad is 91 years old and is having difficulty reading small print. This product has rekindled his interest in reading not only the newspaper, but books that he hasnt picked up for years! The magnifier takes a little practice in setting it up just for the right angle, but considering my Dad is in a wheelchair, we take care of that little issue for him.
Not used much
It was bought for a woman in a nursing home who has trouble reading the paper. She is 97 and worries about it getting broken. I have seen one similiar since this purchase that was less than $40 and would have purchased the cheaper if I had found it first. The product seems to work well. We just dont have personal use experience.
I would buy this product again
Bought two of these for gifts. One for a lady who is 105 and another for my mother who is 86. Both can hardly see and this is such a blessing to them. Thank you so much.
Good lamp/magnifier
I got this lamp/magnifier for my mother-in-law. She is a senior who requires more assistance to read than her glasses provide. She uses this everyday when reading the newspaper and her magazines. The height of this unit is fine for her as she is always seated when using it. The magnification is nice, as well. I gave it four stars instead of five because I think the head of the lamp could be more durable. That being said, the lightweight of the product helps her maneuver it easier. I am pleased with this purchase.
Nice but needs to be clearer for reading
I use it to read as I am older and needed help but the problem is the magnification is not true on all parts of the glass making it hard on the eyes - make the magnification even and I will be the happiest person around. The size was great just right for reading books otherwise.

not easy to use
I bought this for a gift for my 93 year old mother who is having trouble seeing, but she was unable to get the right angle to focus on what she wanted to read. I had some difficulty also, but Im sure there are people who had no problem using it.

On off button could be better
On off button could be better. It has stayed on though i had pressed the button and i did not notice for several hours. Otherwise it is very flexible and the larger size makes it perfect for reading book or magazines.

Had I known this was a Fresnel Lens, I never would have purchased it. For the price, it should have been a glass lens.

I ordered this for my visually impaired friend. There was not enough light in order to help her see through the screen. She couldnt read anything through it. She suffers from blind spots and age-related macular degeneration. It wasnt a good fit for her and Ill have to return the product.

Help with reading & eye problems
I purchased this for my mother in law who is an avid reader, but lately has developed cronic eye degeneration. We wanted her to continue to read and with this she can without it hurting her vision. Hey, we all lose some reading vision as we get older. I find myself using a magnifying glass myself. We are giving this to her for Christmas 2011!
Great for handwork
I use my Daylight Magnifier to do my counted cross stitch and other handwork. It makes seeing those tiny squares much easier! Its easy to adjust the height of the lamp as well as the distance of it from the fabric. I liked mine so well I bought one for my 90 year old Mother-in-law!
