bad instructions, no excuses
It tells me the correct date but the wrong day and I have emailed sharper image twice but no answer. the book should be more detailed and informative with all the tricks to make this work to my satisfaction. I dont know how to switch the music to voice for wakeup. the radio works great and i like the outside temp thing.
Pretty cool!
How fun being awakened by your personal butler with thr time, temperature and a friendly greeting
Too loud
I dont like to be blasted by the radio when I wake up in the morning. This clock/radio is way too loud even on the lowest setting. Its annoying and I dont even know if Im going to be able to tolerate it in my bedroom long term.
This is the best alarm clock ever!!!!!!!
The low end of the volume control is actually too high. I cant use the radio alarm because the volume is too loud. I have to use the "beep" which has the right amount of sound.
GREAT PRODUCT!
ENJOY SOOTHING VOICE ON ALARM. LIKE THE INDOOR=OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE FEATURE. BOUGHT 2 FOR MYSELF,THEN 2 MORE FOR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS.
Review
Looks great and nice color but the light is too bright at night and the lowest volume is too loud.
Also when I tried to unscrew the screws to put the batteries into the outside temperature gague, I stripped them trying to unscrew them as they were put in so tightly.
Works Great
I like waking up and knowing the weather outside.
Makes a good night light
This clock lights up the whole room and kept me up at night. Also, I couldnt use the snooze/nap bar because my hands are too cold and dry it didnt sense me touching it. I did like that it has multiple alarms that are easy to set. As long as lights dont bother you when you are sleeping and you have sweaty hands this is a wonderful alarm clock.
Perfect!!!
For work reasons, keeping track of time and weather is very important at the moment I receive a call-out. It is very accurate. As everyone in other reviews mentioned, the volumn does not go low enough for night time, especially the radio. It is very bright, but with help of a small, purple acrylic clipboard cut in half and layered, it is now perfect at night. This was one of the Christmas gifts I asked "Santa" (my wife) for and I was thrilled to receive and use it!
Stay away from this one.
The lowest volume setting is way to loud. It really scares you in the morning.
Sits quietly and does its job!
This is the second clock like this that I have purchased. The best feature is that it resets itself after power outages. That is the primary reason I purchased it. It is in a guest room, so I dont use the alarm features. It is nice to see the temps outside and in. The display has a dimming feature, but even in its lowest setting, it still seems very bright in the dead of night.
Too bright love the butler
I love this clock and love knowing what the temperature outside is. BUT I have to keep a washcloth over it because it will not dim low enough to allow for a good nights sleep. My butler when he worked was great but has gone out twice. Once my husband fixed it and now he cant. Is it possible to purchase replacement parts?
Best clock radio Ive ever had
This is the best clock radio I have ever had. Indoor/outdoor temps. Very nice.
What we needed
Had a hard time first setting it up, the directions confused (maybe not as complete as I needed) Once I finally figured it all out, having to unplug everything once and recycling the program, but now it is working great.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
There is a lot to like about this clock (The Good). The soft display is soft-white backlit. Compared to my last clock, the dim setting is much more tolerable. The voice announcement of the Time, Date, and Outside Temp is awesome, its a deep - male voice. The input jack is nice, the 3-4" speaker provides a much better dynamic range than my laptop that I have hooked into it.
However (The Bad), I have to agree with others that the volume is ridiculous. This is a bedside clock/radio. The volume is digital, from 1-8. At the lowest setting, it is intolerably loud for use as a radio to fall asleep to.
The worst feature (The Ugly), is the Snooze Bar. It is a giant bar that stretches across the whole front of the radio. That would be fine if all of it worked, but it doesnt. You wont find this in the manual either. Through trial & error, I found that only a very small piece of the Snooze Bar works. It only responds when touched in the very middle, at the top of the bar - you have to touch the top rib of the bar.
Wanted to Love It
I was so excited when I picked this up! I loved the idea of having a voice rather than music. Couple things I didnt notice in the demo. Although it has a low, med, high setting for brightness, the low is still so bright you will need to cover it with something to get some sleep. The volume control is digital. 1 being the lowest. At 1 it is so loud, that voice will seem like it is screaming at you! I think I could put it in another room and still hear it. The voice still is great, but when they made the recording they loop it too fast. It would have been great for them to put in a delay that would have given you a chance to turn it off. It just starts repeating itself immediately taking away that fun aspect. I like the idea, just not sure I can get past the negative aspects of how they put this together. This could have been totally cool.
too loud, too bright
We recently bought 2 of these clock radios for our bedroom. The lowest volume setting on the radio is way too loud and all of the illuminated settings are way too bright. Even with the screen set at the least bright setting, the whole room is lit up by this clock. I am very disappointed in this product. I did like the "butler" announcing the time and temp but I like waking up to the radio, however, could not do this as the volume was way too loud and made for a very rude awakening. I have gone back to my old clock radio.
unhappy customer
The weather Butler radio sensor never worked anywhere, anytime. Very poor.
Stay Away -- Not WiFi
Be careful with this product. It is not WiFi -- you have to connect a transmitter to your PC and must have your PC on at all times to transmit data to the weather station.
Volume Problem
I received this radio as a Christmas gift. When on the lowest volume setting of "1", it is too loud. I cant make it go any lower. I think this is a big oversight in the design of this radio. I wouldnt buy one myself.
