Not what I expected
Unfortunately, it eat several tapes. I will be returning the item. Perhaps this problem is specific to this machine, and not another.
Easy to use
Now I can enjoy music I recorded to cassette many years ago again and again
Disappointing
Very poor quality product. Recordings are scratchy sounding - tapes played perfectly on other devices but not on this one.
Instructions were weak. Gain controls require you to put the gain at the lowest setting and still get over feed rasp on louder sections.
I gave up trying to preserve old tapes.
Easy to use and makes good recordings
For a compact battery operated recorder, this worked amazingly well for all but the odd tape that had become too tightly wound; the recorder just didnt have enough power to play tight tapes at the correct speed. I have a 64-bit operating system on my computer and the supplied software for the recorder installed with no difficulties.
Works well
Good for copying tapes to CD. It does take a long time to copy as copies at regular play speed.
Unprofessional Performance
Tape plays too slow and doesnt hold constant speed resulting in very poor sound quality even when using a power adaptor instead of battery power.

I have a lot of tapes 15 to 20 years old, I was worried that the tapes would dry roit and would get to listen to some good old sounds. Now i just hook up my tape recorder tp my computer and download all of my old music and then copy it to a cd disk. One of my best buys,

hardware and software problem
Speed was slow, so never sounded right. Like playing 45 record on 33 speed. Copy process did not separate songs correctly, so one track ended as 3 or 4 songs.
Simple for an old man to use.

pack up the cassesetts
I am one of thoses that still have a load of music on cassettes.This will allow me to transfer those cassettes to my computer and mp players and pack the cassettes up,and the sound quality is great I can now listen to those songs with better quality and enjoy songsthat i haventheard in years,the way they should be heard.I love this product.
It broke down the first time I used it!
It broke the first time I used it. Reverse button kept switching on and off by itself. Customer support said to return the product - no way to fix it,.
Great gadget
I am so excited, I have hundreds of cassettes and now I get to reminiscence with my days gone by! The usage is awesome, I love being able to convert to mp3 or just listen with headphones.

I had just converted 521 CDs to I-Tunes and was looking for a way to convert my 300+ cassettes and 700+ vinyl to mp3s. THIS is a dream. I had already purchased one that was supposed to be oh so great—sound modulation (and by the way it was 5x the price of the TapeExpress) . . . IT was a nightmare. I am obviously a music nut and for an itty bitty little thing it is great. Easy to use, results sound terrific. Only issue I have is that it does not automatically place space between tracks. If this is important to you then you need to sit there, listen to your music and put the tracks in manually. NOW IF ONLY I could find something this easy for the vinyl!
Cassette to computer recorder
I have over 300 tapes to convert to MP3 files and the fact that NO AC power supply was included with
the recorder was a huge disappointment. Your advertising should definitely include that fact. You have added another $25.00 to the cost of the unit if one wants to convert a large amount of tapes.

Cassette Converter
I am using this product to transfer my cassette music to my iTunes to play on my iPod.
Great item
I have an internal unit that I paid twice as much for and that was several years ago. This unit is much more precise in its ability to record the individual songs and not create additional files when blank space or dead time in songs appears. It is more time consuming because it records at regular speed instead of fast forward and you have to be hands on if you want to separate the different songs into different files, but it is still a higher quality recording than using the fast forward unit. Really happy with this unit, now where is one to do 8-tracks? (Not kidding).

Easy to set up and to use.
Simple But Effective
Easy to use, reasonable sound quality, easy to install on computer, works well with iTunes. Tape player could benefit from a counter, tracking is sometimes perfect, sometimes sketchy, after substantial use I am getting a bit of cassette player sound on the transfer. Overall, pretty good for the price!
Cassette Player and Converter
Whenever tapes are played the heads get dirty and magnetized. The Sharper Image should provide instructions on how to clean the heads of the player AND off something to Demagnitize the heads for better quality playing/recording.

My adopted son has old cassete tapes that he would like to convert over so his birthday is next month and this is his gift thanks.
My cassettes live again
It is getting hard to find cassette players and having the ability to transfer the music to a more modern media has given new life to my collection. It is simple to use but being battery powered (as delivered) is inconvenient. It should come with an AC converter for extended sessions. It is built with an input for one. I have inquired as to the availability of a converter from the ION company but have received no answer as yet.
Even I got the hang of this fast!
I had a great collection of cassettes and LPs from over 30 years and never found anything I could use that was easy to convert to my computer so i wouldnt have to ask once again one of my kids to show me the way. This came, i plugged it in, popped in my cassette and followed the promp on the cd. Very easy for anyone to use. If youre like me and always behind the times, due to lack of knowledge on how to use all the new and never ending electronic gadgets, you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is. I was afraid at first to buy the cheaper kind of converter,first trying others that cost hundreds and i was not happy at all because i just wasnt getting something right. Yes, i would recommend this to anyone. Now i can finally use my MP3 and MP4 players that have sat in the drawers for years simply waiting to put music on them!! Yippee.!
A REAL PLUS
At last! I have been sitting with a ton of cassette tapes and now I am able to digitize speeches, etc. Thirty years of talks now available on my computer. Hallelujah!!!!
pretty cool
The player and included software work darn good. It is easy to install and once I picked out a cassette to record, all I had to do was push two buttons and listen to that old time music

I bought this for my husband for Fathers Day and he absolutely loves it. He is a DJ and has quite a few cassettes from back in the day and he uses it to transfer his music to the computer. He said it is very easy to use and you dont need batteries. Great GIFT!!
Not worthy, but for up to 10 uses
Compact and easy to use. Size of old walkman cassette players. Easy hookup to computer usiing only USB cord. Includees EZ Vynly Tape Converter software with limited utility. It will record and convert, however, software inadvertently creates extra tracks, with snipets of songs, thusly, leaving some songs short. I used a work-around!. However, ION Express was built so cheap, it stopped working after the 10-15 tape. Sharmer Image Online, makes returns simple, providing you return label by email. However, Sharper Image doesnt do exchanges. So, I had to return the broken one, wait for an electronic refund by email, then wait for delivery. I did that twice before purchasing the ION Tape 2PC Deck that Sharper Image doeant sell. But, Im a happy camper, with about 75 more tapes to convert to mp3s. So, now, Ill have to wait for the certificate and hope I can find something else at Sharper Image with which I can use the refund certificate.
