Major one handed conveience
It works very well when you are hauling items, the one hand deploy/ refold is a major plus. It could be a little sturdier to resist wind damage but I liked it so well this is my second one, Well worth it.
Larger size umbrella that fits into a br
Product fits comfortably in my brief case, opens and closes easily, very pleased with the larger coverage.
Great for travel to rainy climates
This was hand picked by my son in law who researched many travel umbrellas. Though he lives in Southern California, he travels across the country where rain he more likely. He knew he could count on The Sharper Image to have the best product for consistent quality and reliability.
Pricey but worth it
This is the second one im buying. The first was a gift. It makes it easier to enter your car without getting wet during heavy rain with a push of a button. I almost returned the one I just bought because it was hard to retract the umbrella, but with few opening and closing the retraction loosened up and gets easier. Also I had to glue the handle which fell after trying to retract umbrella forcibly.
Finally I have an umbrella that can handle the wind
Love this umbrella. Very lightweight, durable, and easy to open and close. Much better than the Brookstone umbrella I have. The only downside is that in super rainy windy days, it doesnt cover enough. I will be purchasing the bigger size they have.
Sturdy and easy to use!
I bought this umbrella recently and had occasion to use it when a storm cell passed through our local shopping plaza. I knew the rain was coming because the sky had turned quite dark, so I had my umbrella with me as I shopped. When I came out the rain was torrential and I put my grocery bags in my left hand and opened the umbrella with my right. I ran to my car and was able to get in, placed my purchases on the floor... then closed my umbrella with a simple push of a button... with one hand! This umbrella is a keeper!
Seemed good initially
One first inspection, it looked great. Easy to use and lightweight. However, on my 2nd use, I was getting out of my car and there were 25-30 mph wind gusts. The gust came up under the umbrella, flipped it inside out and broke it. I of course got wet. I returned it and am awaiting a replacement. Maybe I got a bad item. I had a similar item from Sharper Image that lasted 10 years before the opening mechanism quit working. Hoping my replacement will last that long.
Great umbrela! got to use the next day.
I keep next to my jacket in the closet ready when I needed it.
Large, dependable and compact
This one replaces one I bought almost 10 yrs ago. I love that its even more compact than the first.
"Perfect for Florida weather"
This is my second umbrella.with these controls. I dont know where I got the first one, but it finally died during a rain storm. I have seen others but they do not both open and close with a button. This was exactly what I was looking for. I can be carrying packages and still manage to easily put up or let down the umbrella.
The "Best" ....we love these umbrellas.
Great size and lasts for a very long time.
Sturdy and easy to use
no problems in windy conditions
I love it. It is light and durable
It is easy to use and wind resistant.
Prompt and couteous
Delivery as noted
strong and durable
Nice and compact
Nice design. Small enough for me to take with just in case
Save this for a rainy day.
I bought the same umbrella to replace one that was taken by someone at work. This is a great umbrella. I used the stolen one for over fifteen years.
Umbrella is great. Had a friend who borrowed mine and never returned it so it had to be replaced.
Previously owned an umbrella purchased from a Sharper Image store. Owned this umbrella for over 15 years until it just was wore out. My purchase of the new umbrella was to replace the old one.
Probably a good umbrella
NYC is very windy. Despite its clever engineering, the umbrella turned inside out the minute I took it out in windy, rainy weather. I suppose the good thing is that it didnt break. Its only had one outing so far.
The Wind Resistant Umbrella
Great in the wind
This product close to perfect
I like this umbrellas size, easy to open and close. wind proof and big
Great product! Effective against strong winds as advertised.
Stay dry with no problems!!!!
Hate when you have to fight the rain and wind but neither will be a match when you use this umbrella. It is designed to not invert from the wind and it works, nice job sharper image.
wind resistant umbrella foils windy city
The only umbrella Ive ever seen that truly can handle the wind in the windy city. It survives no matter what the weather. Thanks to the creator and your company for carrying valuable tool to march forward despite the weather!
Wind Resistant Umbrella
works great in the rain. the close button is a mus have. also doesnt fold up in the wind as it promises. I had my last one for 6 years and it just died a couple of weeks ago.
A great purchase
A great product; and, so very practical.
Umbrella would does not open as easily as it should and it blew inside out the first time I used it and it wasnt that windy! I would not recommend this umbrella!
Was looking for a replacement for an old umbrella that broke after a strong gust of wind turned it inside out. Hoping this kind would prevent such a thing from happening again. So far, this one was a little bigger than Im used to, but still fit in my bag without a problem. Was hoping it wasnt too bulky, but I can understand its mechanics to have an effective umbrella. It came with a carrying case for convenience. You can clip onto your belt loop or outside of your bag. Weve had several windy storms and it survived. So far so good and Im satisfied.
BETTER THAN EXPECTED
Most useful when wife and I are together and dont want to handle two umbrellas.
A great quality umbrella, shipped fast!
Use it at work and back. When necessary only, it could rain a lot in Miami.
Sturdy and of high quality
I was hoping the umbrella would be a little smaller and a little more lightweight so that it could fit easily in a purse, without adding too much weight to the bag. That wasnt this umbrella, but the umbrella is very sturdy and appealing and the quality seems to be high. The person I gave the gift to was happy with it, but did wish it was a little lighter in weight and length. She decided to keep it because of the quality and leave it in her car for an emergency umbrella, rather than one that could be carried in her purse.
works as advertised
The umbrella was a replacement for a much used and loved older version that was lost. Looking forward to using it in the rain and wind.
Opened for the first time at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland during a wind and rain storm off the Atlantic Ocean. My umbrella stayed in shape, while all around me were turned inside out. It was light enough to carry during my entire trip and worked every time.
Light and Good Coverage
The last umbrella like this which I purchased from Sharper Image lasted 11 years. This is a much improved version because it is so much lighter than the old one. Folds up really small but covers 52 inches.
Ive used the umbrella twice already and so far I love it. Its small enough to stow in my backpack and big enough to keep the rain away. It definitely passed the wind test, which was one of the reasons why I purchased it. My last umbrella broke when it flipped over and bent the frames, which made it hard for me to close it up completely. Barely stayed retracted too since it broke. Hope this umbrella can take the freak thunderstorms we get around DC.
I bought this as a gift for my brother in law. Seems like a very good umbrella. He lives in Germany and needed a very durable one. So this is what I choose.
This umbrella is a keeper.
Its an umbrella and I use it for rainy days. Its durable; can take the windy days; not to heavy; its compact and therefore easy to store. Good product.
Perfect for every storm!
Love this umbrella, never leaves my site. Holders up beautifully under eve. the worst weather conditions.
just what the doctor ordered
My wife and I both can stay dry under this umbrella
great umbrella wind resistant
I love this umbrella! It is truly wind resistant, I bought one for myself and one for a friend.
Wind Resistant Umbrella
Tired of cheaper-made umbrellas breaking and turning inside out in wind gusts, I am trying the Sharper Image Wind Resistant Umbrella. I havent had opportunity yet to test it in high winds, but it is sturdier than normal umbrellas, so I expect it to perform as described.
best Ive had
I tend to be in the elements at times showing homes to clients so this is perfect for me.
Meets our windy needs!
Every day I have to walk over a bridge that is very windy. Ive broken many umbrellas, but this one just does not break! Very durable.
Compact, sturdy and functional
Great "on the go" umbrella
Great travel umbrella
Jury is still out on this umbrella
I just received the product in the mail today. I live in California and we have not had rain in a long time. That said, I have not had a chance to use the umbrella so I cant honestly write a review at this time. Ask me again in the rainy season (if we get one this year. Had to enter a rating so Im hoping that it is great.
Great Quality and Design!
Nice and Compact
I trust Sharper Image and am a repeat customer. This product is a good product, and I will use it for many years.
I like the powerful open/close button that only requires one hand; however, it requires some strength to get the umbrella back to the original compact configurement. Im 5 2 115 lbs, in decent shape, but I have to concentrate on getting the umbrella to close all the way, and it definitely requires use of both arms. Thats the only way to re-open, to get it down to the compact size, or else the automatic open close wont work. Make sure you have enough space when opening it. Ive only used the umbrella a few times so far. Not sure I wouldve paid the same price for it had I tested it out.
Back to the best
I had a Sharper Image umbrella years ago that was great. It got left in a car that I sold and was replaced with a "Name Brand" gift. That lasted two years. Now I have the Wind Resistant Umbrella and I am very impressed. The build is well thought out and well executed. It operates easily and the wind does not seem to a problem. I am confident that this umbrella will survive because of the good workmanship, and past experience.
Newer and Better
Lost my original Sharper Image umbrella that I had for about 10 yrs. New one is a little bigger and just as functional
Match my expectation
My friend recommended this umbrella to me. It really match my expectation! I love it. I wish there are more color to choose since I dont normally carry a black umbrella.
Great quality umbrella but too small
Very good quality compared to your average umbrella. This umbrella served an important need for me because I needed an umbrella that would easily fit into my backpack or briefcase. The size is perfect for when I need a compact umbrella but I still need a somewhat larger umbrella for downpours. This umbrella will protect most of your body but I still find myself getting wet on the arms and on my back when it is raining hard.
Also, this umbrella really is wind resistant considering its small size. It has little springs in the canopy that flex with the wind but I have found that even with a little wind the umbrella will turn inside out. The umbrella doesnt get damaged from this because you just have to flip it a few times and it returns to normal. I was a little surprised that the umbrella was very sensitive to the wind because I have a much larger wind resistant umbrella and it seems to take much more abuse in the wind. I find the whole process of the umbrella turning inside out rather annoying and wh
Excellent light weight umbrella
This is an excellent umbrella and seems to be very well made. I havent tested it yet in extreme wind, so hopefully it will hold up.
I ordered a second one in the 54" version.
The automatic open and close is a nice feature.
Auto, motorcycle, boat always available, always capable of protecting person or personal property. Fits in briefcase or backpack.
This is a quality, sturdy umbrella and is worth the price. Stands up to moderate winds. I have had it turn inside out in strong winds, but looking around, it seemed like the winds were strong enough that everyones umbrellas were doing that.
Cons: 1) Takes a lot of strength to close the umbrella - its hard to do with one hand. 2) You may or may not get a subscription to Golf Digest magazine because you purchased this umbrella. It was annoying to have to figure out why I was receiving the magazine and having to call and cancel the subscription.
Excellent Choice Both Sizes
Both sizes work well. In storm conditions or extreme UV the collapsed size make this item easily available. I suggest purchasing both sizes. The small one for personal use in confined space and crowds. The larger one for open spaces or protection for two people. Because of the excellent design they are easily used for exiting and after entering a auto. Push button to open, push button to close once inside. Less fumbling around one in vehicle. Important in a downpour.
In addition I keep one in tour-pak of H-D. Protects me or instrumentation of motorcycle.
I am extremely happy with this purchase.
wind resistant umbrella
Nice umbrella. Seems to be well made and holds up well in heavy rain/wind.
Quite a surprise
I was quite surprised Sunday when the wind turned my umbrella wrong side out. This is the third or fourth of this same umbrella that I have owned and this is the very first time this has happened.
The close button on this and one other is very strong and difficult to close.
not as good as it used to be
I bought this same umbrella 10 years ago, and had it up until a month ago when it was stolen. I cant believe I held onto an umbrella for that long, but it was THAT good. It was completely wind resistant--NEVER flipped inside out, and that included fours years in Chicago. So when I lost this umbrella, I immediately went online and bought the same one. Now Im suffering from the onld cliche "they sure dont make em like they used to." Within my first use of this "wind resistant" umbrella, it flipped inside out. It has happened a few times since then--wind resistant it is not. The control button also gets sticky and makes the umbrella difficult to lock. With all that being said, they did add a new feature--the material is water-proof so when Im done using it, there is practially no water on it. I do like that. But thats about it.
I would buy this product again and again
very durable during high wind
Great umbrella, get one!
Since local Sharper Image stores (sadly) closed in my area, Ive been trying to replace my old favorite Sharper Image umbrella that broke after a few years. Looks like models have been updated, but the new ones seem just as capable, and Im guessing the quality will be better over the longrun. This umbrella seems to be exactly what I was looking for. If I could complain about anything, its that the umbrella doesnt fully close automatically - after you press the button and the umbrella collapses, you still need to push it back in to close it. But thats not a big deal. My main concern is that it is strong, durable, and lasting quality - which only time can tell - but my initial impressions are very good.
Never will buy another umbrella again!
This umbrella is great! It never gets blown inside out and always is dependable. I had to replace it only because it keeps getting stolen when I have to leave it at a door! Always dependable in the worst of storms!
Wind Resistant Umbrella
I was glad to see that this product was the "ShedRain" brand. I all ready have one that I bought independently of Sharper Image that Ive been very happy with. This bigger model has gotten limited use since purchase but it seems every bit as durable as the smaller one I all ready own. The real test will be with some serious wind which hasnt happened yet.
