Better then any other tie hanging system
I have plenty of ties and prior to buying this they all were hung on traditional hanger based multi-level system. This traditional method was just plain terrible in every way but it was pretty much the only option other the rolling/folding them and putting them in a drawer which creates different issues.
The Motorized Tie Rack is probably the best solution to the jumbled tie problem on the market. It keeps your ties viewable, neat and easy to get to while presenting a clean look to my recently rebuild closet. As I have already filled 1 (50 ties) so I will be buying another.
While I have only had it for a couple months and will continue to recommend it until I find a reason not to, I must say I do wish it had a stronger motor. With 50 ties it moves much slower than with 10. Over stress is the reason why things break and I can only assume the slowing speed is the result of stress. I also wouldnt really recommend this for belts, they just done seem to fit right.

My husband was so frustrated not being able to see all of his ties each morning as he got ready, so I got him this for Christmas. He put it up in a matter of minutes and it works just like it says it will. The ties hang nicely and there is a light that makes sure you can really see them as they spin around. He isnt normally one for gadgets like this and he was really excited to get it and very pleased about how it is working!

Something small with a big purpose!
Ive needed something like this to hold all my ties, without taking a bunch of room in my closet and this is easy to set up and small!. This item definitely expands the life of my ties, rather then them being shoved into a box/bag.

The tech guy really loved this gadget
This product was purchased for a tech guy with every electronic gadget available. He fell in love with it. The only bad note was the left control turned the carousel right and the right control turned the carousel left. If the tie rack is full it is hard to access the belts in the middle of the rack so we included belts on the carousel hooks. Over all this is a great product and I would strongly recomend purchasing it.

Couldnt handle weight of ties. Motor literally died before last tie was placed on rack. Returned within a day of arrival.

The motor is too weak to hold all the ties. It revolves very slowly and gets stuck from time to time.

Excellent, just what I needed
Ive got a ton of ties. Recently moved and couldnt use the tie racks from my old house on the new closet shelving (old house had wire shelves). This rack was amazingly easy to install and get loaded. Cant speak to durability yet. This had the largest capacity of any I could fine. Going larger (>100 ties) would suit me fine.
Motorized tie rack is great
It really helps organize your ties. Efficient way to pick your tie. Attaching to the hanger bar can be challenging depending on the size of the bar. Otherwise a terrific addition to any mans closet.

This was actually a replacement product. I bought a Sharper Image motorized tie rack 10 years ago and liked it. The belt finally broke on my old unit and I was sure I needed to replace it with a newer model.
Fits old style closet-not wire combos
Gave as a gift, the closet was a wire combination so the tie rack had to be rigged to stay in place. Works well and is compact.
Looks nice, but not capable
I ordered this to replace another tie rack that bit the dust. Based on the positive reviews, I purchased it thinking the extra cost was warranted because of its quality. It looks nice. But the motor is easily bogged down, and it makes an awful noise. I wouldnt recommend.
Awesome product
My husband loved it as a fathers day present. He can place so many ties on this rack and is so convenient. Not bulky and not hard to install. He has many belts also and has mentioned he wished it was also a little more belt friendly (all in one); but it is a tie rack not a belt rack.

It was amazing how difficult it was to find a tie rack in a lot of stores. It just wasnt available. When all my belts and ties were laying in my closet it became very annoying. So the tie rack from Sharper Image really saved the day.

Decent Replacement for the Original
My original Sharper Image motorized tie rack, the best Id ever had, was failing so I had to find a replacement. I needed one that would hold the same large number of ties as the original. Fortunately, Sharper Image does sell a replacement that fit the bill. I couldnt find any others that would hold as many ties. The good news: The ties rotate faster and more quietly than the original. The bad news: No mounting hardware for wire racks and slightly flimsier tie and belt holders. Oddly, there are designated areas where you can drill holes to use the mounting hardware from the original tie rack. Unfortunately, the rounded surface of the device and the imbalance due to the front positioned battery pack cause the rack to tilt down, and the tilt varies unless you space your ties very evenly... I suspect that this is why the mounting hardware isnt included. Fortunately, its easy to place a spacer (I used an empty C battery two-pack cardboard box) between the back of the tie rack and the overlying wire rack to ke

This was a replacement of one that was about 10 years old. It is a nice design and fits well, but it moves around very slow. Other than that it is a very good product.

A Minor Disappointment
I have purchased three motorized tie racks from Sharper Image in the past twenty years. The second was a major improvement from the first. A stability extension section kept the device firmly in place and the tie movement was fast, sharp and easily reversed. The latest version of the rack, however, has taken a step back in quality. There is no extension section and the movement is slow and clunky.
Rotating Tie Rack
Ive bought others that were less expensive but it turns out that the others cant compare. Ive seen others that were more expensive and they werent nearly as sufficient.

More uses than just ties.
After seeing this tie rack at a friends house my wife thought it could work as a necklace holder. It works very well in this capacity. She did have to put some of her heavier necklaces on the hangers located on the underside, so not a problem.
If the designers of this product read this and design an actual necklace rack put a stonger motor on this unit and it would handle the heavier items. If I had any ties this unit would be my first choice.
One last item the installation onto the close pole was very easy, it fit with no hassles.

This product is very compact. It holds all of my numerous ties in a very small space. The motor works great and is very convenient in helping to quickly find the tie I want. The construction is sturdy, and I have yet to find any flaws with this product. I would highly recommend it to any man owning a significant tie collection.

Does the Job
I previously purchased a similar produce from another store. It did not have the stop or off button but it appeared to be the same in every other way and it was less than half the cost. I took it back because, although it claimed a capacity of more than 50 ties it did not work with more than 25. The Sharper Image product does everything it is supposed to do does it well. The only issue was installation. We have California Closets type equipment and the rod is not round. Care has to be taken when tightening up the clamps but once done it is great.

Motorized Tie Rack
This is the second time we have purchased a motorized tie rack. We purchased the previous one about 10 years ago and it is still working fine. Meanwhile my husband has many more ties then he had ten years ago, so a new one was in order. They fit fine together on a pole in his closet.

My husbands closet was immaculately organized except for his ties which were a mess. With the tie organizer his closet is perfectly organized. It is easy to use, and allows him to select his tie within seconds, instead of fumbling for minutes trying to find the perfect tie for the day.
Dont be cheap. Buy the good one
Bought a very cheap replica on Amazon. It was about 1/3 the price, so I figured try that first. Mistake. The knockoff was flimsy, motor was under powered and loud. Just cheap. I sent it back and got this one. It works great. Motor is smooth and fast (almost too fast). Very sturdy.

Practical and Useful
I purchased one as a gift and another for my husband. Its been very practical and allows for him to see all his ties in a much more organized fashion. However, I have some concerns on durability. Nothing has broken but am nervous that it may happen soon. Based on the frequency he uses the rack.

Great gift
My husband loves it (gift for Fathers Day). We have slim closet hanging rods though so we had to get creative to make it fit tight to the rod. Otherwise super. Its hard to find one with so many tie hooks.
Extremely disappointed with the lack of quality
Very disappointed - I needed a tie rack. The first one rotated just fine until it was loaded with ties then it stalled. Had the same experience with the replacement. A piece of junk and the Customer Service attitude seemed to be oh well, bummer.
Motorized Tie Rack...wonderful gift idea
My husband wears a tie at least five times per week, and this product makes it quite easy to see exactly which ties are available to be worn. This rack also holds belts in addition to a large quantity of ties. Now our sons think they need one too!
Great Tie Rack
I wear a tie every day for work, and this tie rack holds all of my ties. It runs very smoothly and quietly, which is important since I often get dressed in the dark while my wife is still sleeping. In addition, the light on the tie rack works great.

Purchased this tie rack as a gift for my husband. Hed had the original version of this tie rack for years and it recently broke. This new version is sleek and nice looking, but its slightly bulkier than the original, so be sure to check the distance between your closet rod and any shelf thats above it. Excellent Product
This is a terrific organizer. I went for years with ties hanging on wooden hangers -- a poor solution that was never satisfactory. I bought two of these and they have solved the problem perfectly. The only issue I have had was installation. The custom closet rods are a little big for the installation clamp, and I had to force them. Once installed, they are now completely secure. I would strongly recommend this product to any man who wears ties.

A tie rack that works and looks good
I have my rack loaded with 55 ties and even without motion the rack keeps everything nice and neat. I did not use the extra belt holders because it seemed to stop the rotation of the ties... But nonetheless it is a nice compact unit and my ties are easy to find and manage. I hope the motor lasts. Even if it doesnt it makes my closet more organized.

Best version of a motorized tie rack that I have ever used. Pretty bulky on the top and wouldnt fit on my closet rod, because it wouldnt fit between the rod and shelf above. Works great after I lowered the rod.

I bought a similar one of these for my husband from Sharper Image about 15 years ago and its served him well but the rubber belt finally gave way. So, I ordered him a new one only to find that this model is battery only - the old one had an electric adapter. I returned it as the batteries dont last very long with daily use.

i like that it rotates to see the selection of ties, i also like the amount of ties it holds. it suits me just fine.

Great product
I had a problem with having many long necklaces and no good way to organize them and make them more visible to me. I hung them on the tie rack, and the problem is solved! I organized them by season and color so I can find exactly the necklace I am looking for, which speeds up getting dressed and out the door for work each day. I was concerned that the weight of the necklaces may be different from the weight of neckties, for which the rack was originally designed, but there does not seem to be a problem yet. I hung the heavier necklaces elsewhere, and only put the lightweight ones on this motorized rack. I wish the small raised bump at the end of each hook which meant to prevent the ties from falling off was a bit higher to catch the necklaces, but they seem to be doing ok so far. This solved a HUGE organization problem for my accessories and I love it. Maybe a sturdier version of this wonderful product could be introduced to hold the heavier items like belts and bulkier jewelry. In all, I am so happy I bough
Greatest Invention Ever

Not as good as Sharper Image previous ti
I own the previous Sharper Image tie rack product which was much better than this latest version. The main problem is most closet companies use hanging bars that are metal, in an oblong shape and this latest tie rack does not attach to that type of bar and contains no kit to make the attachment. It is very slow and pressing right turns the rack left etc. Just seems like a product not well thought through.

Great Rack!
After more than 20 years my original Sharper Image tie rack died. This new model is quieter, has bright LED lights that should last much longer than the old incandescent bulb, has belt loops, and holds more ties. This is a great rack!

When this product is full it moves very, very slowly.
Its fine & serves its purpose of holding ties but its really quite average. Have had several other very similar models & all about the same. This product is not meant to mount to wire racks/wire closet organizers even though some say that it does.

Its a bit bulky but other than that its great!
Best tie rack out there!
The best feature of this product is that it has an off/stop switch. Others, that dont have this feature, are clumsy to operate. You have to hit the left button to stop the motion to the right, and vice versa. Often the rack doesnt stop, but goes the other direction instead. The SharperImage product is the only one I have found that has a stop button. It also turns on the light. I love this product. I have owned 3 over the past 8 or 9 years. I have over 100 ties and I use 2 side by side. My first SharperImage rack just broke. The motor is fine, but the belt broke. I have a fully functioning other brand rack that i have donated so I can have two of these. This rack is a bit more expensive than some I have seen and bought but it is worth it. THE MOTOR IS MUCH QUIETER TOO!

Great organizer
My husband needed a space for his ties. The rack was initially a gift for him but it ended up being more for me. It keeps our closet looking neat and orderly.
Attractive but a little slow
I have nearly 100 ties, and with two racks I was able to group them by color content. Hopefully these racks will last longer than the manual pull-out racks that failled in a few years of use.
Works great, improvement over past racks
I owned my previous battery operated tie rack for over 10 years. When it recently broke, I was hoping to replace it with something similar and hopefully a little easier to install.
The product was easy to install (I had it installed in under 5 minutes.) The led light is a nice touch, and it holds all of my ties (approx. 50) and still has a lot of room for more.
My only caution would be that the rack may move a little too fast and sometimes i have to try to back it up to get back to my tie. I think there is a little learning curve on that as it moves about twice as fast as my old rack.
In sum, I am very happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend it to others. You get what you pay for, and I would spend the extra money if you have a large tie collection and use ties daily.

I purchased this tie rack to make selecting my ties easier. My previous rack was mounted on the wall at the back of my closet causing me to have to push and separate the cloths inorder to select a tie. Most of the ties would slide off the pegs with the slightest touch. Now with the motorized, lighted rack the ties stay on the pegs and I made a plaque with a short pole and mounted it on the wall outside the closet and it works great.

Make sure you have a thick enough bar, the setup doesnt tighten enough to be tight on my closet bar so the tie rack will dip to either the front or back depending on which side has more. I managed to make my bar a little thicker, but it still slightly dips. Other than that it works great. Happy with the purchase

My old motorized tie rack bit the dust and after looking at possible replacements at local stores I was unable to find one that would serve my needs. I then went to Sharper Image and saw this one and read the reviews. Everyone was correct! It is so much better than the one I replaced. I was excited to get this to better organize my ties, but just like a cheaper product I purchased locally the mechanism that rotates the ties sounded like the gears werent working properly. Works fine without ties but fill it up and the weight of the ties and the mechanism didnt get along. I am sending this back for a replacement to see if it was just dumb luck.
Well worth the money
I bought this for my husband due to the amount of ties never worn simply because he could not see he had them. This durable and quiet gem changed all that for us. I bought a similar motorized product from a different store. Ended up returning it. Lets just say you get what you pay for.

My dad loooooved this product, he had one previously but it didnt compare to this one at all. Why Did We Wait So Long? Fabulous!
Okay, maybe men arent wearing ties much anymore...but my husband does; he travels internationally to countries that conduct business in suits and ties. After 25 years, he has quite the tie collection. But the way they were hung made it hard to find just the right tie. Or, the ties would drop to the floor at the slightest movement, sometimes all of them would be on the floor for no apparent reason! He kept asking me to find a better way to hang his ties and this is it! I found it at Sharper Image and installed it MYSELF as a birthday surprise. He was so delighted when he walked in and saw it! I wanted a tie rack that I could hang on a wire shelf in my closet. when I inquired about the possibility of hanging the rack on my wire shelving I was informed that they did not have the attachments to do that.I ordered the rack anyway because I had an existing tie rack that I purchased from Sharper Image years ago and it included the attachments for the wire shelving.When I received my tie rack I took the cover off and found the two stampings under the cover for where the attachments would work from my old tie rack.I drilled 2 holes,used my existing attachment brackets and wouldnt you know I now have a tie rack that works on my wire shelving.Sharper Image should take a close look at this product and offer the attachments so that you can use this product with wire shelving as well as a rod.

I purchased this product as a gift for someone else. The tie rack is very bulky. I did end up returning it. However, the tie rack seemed very durable, unique, and can keep a bunch of ties very neat and organized.
Replacement parts?
The belt that holds the ties broke, rendering the entire thing useless. I think it would be relatively easy to replace it, if only I could find a new belt. But, alas, I guess youd have to buy an entire new unit -- I dont think so. Ill go back to the old reliable pins on a board type of tie rack -- no batteries required.

After receiving a lesser version Sharper Image tie rack from Bed Bath and Beyond that broke almost instantly, I researched similar products online. I liked the convenience and settled on this item after reading the reviews. This model is significantly more durable, although when filled with ties it does slow significantly. Overall, a very decent product and deal.

Purchased for my personal use. Easy to install. Battery location a little tricky. Superb for finally organizing my ties and belts, rather than hanging them on a metal hanger or over the closet pole. Compact so it frees up additional space on the closet pole for other items.

Motorized Tie Rack
I think its a great product. I looks nice and classic. Simple to use. The only two cons is: a) there are two plastic hooks that goes under the motorized tie rack which one has to put in and turn to install in place, but there is something wrong with those hooks. A they go in but doesnt turn... I know this is made in China, but you can turn those hooks in place to lock it in place. It was annoying that I spent about 5 minutes back and forward while installing this thing. I think the hooks or something are too thick so it doesnt lock. This feature this to be fix or just not added because it was annoying as my first impressing... b)I rated the product a 4 because it feels just a slight cheap because the little handle blades that hold the ties feel very flimpsy meaning you have to carefull handle that unit or touch it or one of those handles are liable to break if one is not excerting proper pressure. The motorized tie rack is exactly what I was looking for. Now, instead of taking up valuable space for all of my ties, I have something that makes it easy to use put them away. Its easy to set up and the light feature enables me to see what tie I want early in the morning.

When turned on, the movement stalls with loud clicking sounds. Many efforts to solve the problem have failed. It was not sufficiently tested with actual ties on it in a closet!!!

It does the job it was intended to do. It looks good in the closet and doesnt take up much room at all. The tie hangers themselves are a little cheap feeling but then again they are only used to hold ties.

Good way to organize your ties
This saves me a lot of time in the morning. I organized my ties by color group. Now I just turn on my motorized tie rack and select from the right color group.

Great tie rack
Even though I dont wear ties regularly, maybe 3 or 4 a year, I really wanted a tie rack. This machine fit the bill. Its big enough to hold all the ties Ill probably ever own at once, but small enough to not take up a bunch of closet space. It was very easy to install and uninstall.
2nd time for this type of rack
This is my 2nd Sharper Image tie rack. I love that it holds almost all of my ties and takes up little closet space. However, this newer model is half as slow as my previous rack. I hope Ill get used to the speed, but I anticipate frustration when Im in a hurry.
Motorized Tie Rack
I bought two of these for our closet. One of them worked. The other was defective (motor did not rotate, but lights came on). Now I have to return the defective for another. I like the one that does work.
Just not happy I have to go thru the hassle of returning one and waiting for the replacement. I am hoping the replacement will be shipped overnight, so I dont have to wait.

the best thing i discovered
I bought this item for my son who has ties hanging everywhere. The ones that he put on a hanger always wound up getting wrinkled. Since I purshased the product not only does he not mind hanging his ties up anymore but they are convient to access and wrinkle free. The only thing i regret is not buying one sooner.

My husband purchased two tie racks several years ago and I purchased this as an addition. The model doesnt fit in the closet. The new style, featuring the attaching parts on top of the rack as opposed to on the bottom, make it impossible to attach it to the dowel rod (because the screws stand out too high between the dowel and the closet shelf). If you have a large amount of space between the dowel and the shelf you may be able to fit it, but its bulky on the top and didnt work for us. I will be returning it.

I have owned several tie racks and this Sharper image one is the easiest to attach. No hassles with holding it while you try to tighten screws, no balancing acts needed, just a simple sliding motion to lock it around the pole, and then you tighten it down onto the pole with ease. Just got it but so far so good. press one button and the ties fly around with ease. Once you see the selection you press the middle button to stop it and you are done. Time will tell how good it works for the long run, but when and if it wears out, I will buy another one.

The first product worked well but was easily broken and no repair was possible. This product tightens from underneath and works very well. A possible suggestion - duct tape around the clothes rod before attaching the product to help keep it from slipping.

This Rack is a replacement (gift to self) of a 2001 model. I like the sheek look & quite motor. This was not my first choice due to the online only purchase. GreatTie Rack but a slight design flaw
I have a large number of ties and need a large version like this one. I especially like the way it wraps 360 around the closet rod. What is not great is that the 4 batteries are all on one end making it off balance. The heavy end drops down due to the weight of the batteries. The design should be updated to counter balance that. I was able to fix mine but if the weight was equally distributed I wouldnt have to.

Everything about this tie rack is useful, convenient and easy to use. Unfortunately I have to return it. I did not realize it has to hang from a bar. I have those skinny metal shelves in my closet and no bar. No adapter to use to hang it.

I bought this as a gift for my dad for Christmas and he really liked it. Its super convenient to be able to have all your ties on a device like this. Installation is very easy, but you need to make sure that the rod in which you are installing it is small enough to fit. It is kind of bulky especially since he has so much clothes in his closet, but he really likes it!

Been using older Shape Image motorized tie rack for 20+ years which finally stopped. Read some reviews on other products which were not positive. Im very happy with this product. It is built well, easy controls, much improved mounting design and powerful motor even when rack is completely filled. Havent had it long enough to comment on battery life.

Have had one of these for many years. Visited our son and saw his ties on coat hangers and falling all over, knew the perfect gift and spent many monthe looking for it again. I bought this for my husband to help organize his ties. Its great! The 60 hooks allows for plenty of space for ties. The light is very useful and I love that its so quiet. My only complaint is it doesnt fit snugly on our wire-style closet rod so well have to improvise a bit.
Nothings perfect!
I had purchased this same product from SI about two years ago and it worked so well (and looked so good in my closet) that I bought another one for my ever-growing tie collection. Two problems occurred shortly after unwrapping it and installing it. After taking it out of the box, I set it on my nightstand, went to my closet to prepare it for installation and returned to find that four or five of the plastic hooks on which each tie rests had bent from the pressure of laying the device on its side. I checked the directions that came with the package and saw nothing warning the customer about that possibility. Fortunately, I was able to carefully bend eeach one back to its original form.
When I went to install the device, I was unable to screw the white piece inside (that goes up against the pipe on which hangers rest) the whole way up. In other words, I could not tighten the screw without fear of stripping it. Not wanting to send it back for that reason alone, I gerryrigged it and now it works just fi

If you have an older closet rod, could be very challenging.Ours is wooden and a bit thicker than the modern day closet rods. (Home built in 1940)Also of importance-- how much space you have behind closet rod and above closet rod. If you have a very small closet, with not much space to maneuver both the placement, level balance and tightening from both behind the tie rack and from the top, then this could be a very frustrating endeavor.

Received the earlier version of this, as a gift. It lasted 6 years before the belt broke. Purchased this one because I loved the first one and I did extensive research on like products with this one receiving the best rating. It took about 4 minutes to attach the new tie rack and begin using it. This item is a must for guys with large inventory of ties.

Couldnt be easier to install and the instructions are a bonus of comedic relief - Chinese to English translation gone wrong. You dont really need the instructions since the "Picturese" is easy to follow. Cant comment on durability or length of battery life since I just installed it but it is very cool and fun to operate:)

Some things to watch out for:
Make sure to try and balance your tie placement. If you put them all on one side, the rack will tilt.
The rack may not fasten tight enough to the closet pole (mine wont since the pole is made of metal)
The belt hooks under the rack may provide some interference with the rotation of the ties depending on how big your belt buckles are.

I purchased this last year for my Father on Fathers Day. He liked his and he has a lot of ties, I got one for myself a few days ago because I have a lot of ties as well. before you out any ties on it it moves around well BUT if you fill it to capacity the motor drags and it doesnt rotate nearly as far. I still like it because it is convenient way to store them and it does move... Just not nearly as well. Mine is loaded down with ties and it moves slowly and doesnt rotate around as far. Most of my friends do not have nearly as many ties but they have a good bit of belts. They probably wouldnt have noticed a difference. I love the design, its easy to use, easy to assemble and mount but 4 C batteries is clearly not ideal if you own a lot of ties. The next design should have D batteries.

Kind of ridiculous that the batteries werent included with a $50 tie rack. The rack seems to work great, but the hooks seem a little flimsy and overall the design felt a little cheap. Either way, Ive never been able to find another one of its kind.

Had the old model that finally stopped working. This model is better, expensive though. LED lighting is nice, one of the only motorized 72 tie racks available. Turns a bit fast but when full of ties, the speed is just right. One big negative is that the rack seems only to work with rods. I will be updating my closet soon and worried that this rack will not work with newer wire closet shelving like the old model did.

I purchased two other tie racks and subsequently had to return them. They were loud when operating. One could not even handle the number of ties I have (despite not even using every hook). This one took all of my ties and bow ties without any issues. Definitely worth it, and agree with all of the other reviews.
Needs a bit more durable design
I ordered this as a replacement for a previous version of the Sharper Image motorized tie rack. This version, while similar, lacks a few features of the older version, which are much missed. The old model, which is remarkably similar, had an adapter to support oval clothes bars, which this one didnt come with. Luckily, I was able to use the old one with the new model. Additionally, the old version has an adjustable extension on the back, to provide support against the wall, which this version lacks, and the new design didnt allow me to use that piece with the new model. This is the third of these that Ive owned, as over time, the track ends up cracking and breaking. Spending a few more dollars on the design, so that the track mechanism is made more durable would be nice. Personally, Id never have bought a second one, but my wife uses it for her bras, and really likes it, so I keep replacing them. I have had three and this seems to be the only one that can take the weight if you load it up. I only gave it four stars because I just got it and do not know how long it will last, but it seems more powerful therefor less strain on the motor with a full load.

Holds plenty of ties. Very quiet. However, unlike earlier versions it does not include adapters for installation on wire shelving (but would easily install on solid wooden rods). I salvaged the hardware from my old broken one and drilled a couple of holes in the mounting bracket and it worked great.

I use this product five days a week. It has to be durable and reliable. So far, it is. Unfortunately, SI doesnt provide a place to critique the delivery and so Ill do it here! My product arrived without all the parts. I called and received them in the mail a few days later. Quite frankly, the only reason I didnt send the product back (because it was extremely inconvenient to have the old one down and the new one inoperable/unhangable) was because of the service rep"s assurance I would receive the missing parts in a timely fashion and because of SI"s "image"/reputation. Thats why I titled this "Saved by the Image"!

I use this everyday to select from my large number of ties. When you have over 100 ties, this definitely helps to organize them and provides a way to view each one. Luckily my closet bar is circular because its made to be circular. If you have a rare square closet bar then you will have to find a work around somehow but otherwise this product is GREAT! Very happy.

Probably the best tie rack on the market. If I had to mention one negative thing about the tie rack is that when its full...the weight of the ties does make the rotation a lot slower. But other than that...its a great buy for any guys who have a lot of ties!

I really like the motorized tie rack. It helps to keep my ties all organized. Also, the light is wonderful. When the closet light is off, I can just turn on the light on the motorized rack and can see where to find my tie in minutes. Love this feature.
Easy to istall
This is a very easy unit to install. Just have to be sure that there is enough clearance on top of the bar on which the unit is to be installed to screw the unit tight. Thus if it is a rod that is under a shelf, the clearance between the rod and shelf is sometimes hard to work on to get the unit placed fixed.

Slightly Disappointed
The mount is only made for a full-sized round closet bar, not the wire rack type. So although it does still work, you wont be able to secure it as it was intended. Also, the ties move really slowly, it takes about a minute to get a full rotation.

I like this tie rack, as it fits well in the closet and displays the ties well, but the motor is way too slow to move the ties around. I had a previous version of this tie rack, and the motor was much more powerful.

The new motorized tie rack just arrived--it was an easy order with a good tracking process. It was very easy to install and appears to be a quality product. The new tie rack replaces an old wooden peg rack so this is quite a nice change. The new rack looks really nice in my closet, it is easy to operate and actually held all of my ties neatly with room for a few more. My belts also hang nicely out of the way but easy to get to. Very pleased with my purchase!!

I was quite pleased with my recent purchase of the Motorized Tie Rack. It was very easy to install, and very easy to use as well. I especially like the fact that the tie rack lights up when it is used. It makes it much easier to see the tie for which I was looking. The downside is that it only holds 44 ties, and also was a lot more expensive than other motorized tie racks on the web.

Im concerned about the longevity of the product. Had bought two or three Sharper Image units at a discount store over Christmas and had to take them all back, since all failed to work. Decided to try two from the catalogue, hoping they would be better quality. They do work, but one stalls and growls occasionally, which is concerning.

Purchasing this tie rack was our third attempt to hang my husbands neckwear in a closet with no available space for using a more conventional product. He had been storing his ties folded flat in his armoire because there seemed to be no solution. This product works exactly as it should, and although it is pricey, we are so happy to have found it, so he can get to his ties in the morning without an avalanche of silk. He has hung them in order by color which looks nice and helps with selection. Also, unlike other products which claim a large number of ties can be accommodated, this rack has exactly the number of tie clips advertised, and the ties hang without crushing each other. It took a little longer to get started since the instructions were not very good (need to twist the knob that holds it to the closet bar harder than I expected; illustration of how to open the batter case not clear). The lights aere good and it has worked flawlessly. I took the advice of another not to use the belt holders so that the ties dont get cought on them when they move around . . .

Im glad you asked. I wrote to you a few years ago, pointing out a problem with the tie rack. Actually there were two problems: ties sometimes snag, on the belt hooks; and the retaining hooks need to be a little bit bigger to prevent ties falling off the edge. Ive now bought another one, and am sorry to see that you havent acted on the latter point. The belt hooks, however, are much small now, and that should help eliminate snagging.

Replacement
I had one of these for years but it was recently damaged. I bought this one to replace the old one. My only complaint is that the motor revolves the ties at an extremely low speed. I wish it revolved a little faster.

I purchased this to replace my prior Sharper Image model after my kid got ahold of it. This one has a higher capacity and is slimmer, and I like the fact there there is a stop button (the prior version required you to press the opposite direction to reverse or stop). It is only slightly underpowered, but granted I have about 10 extra ties on it so I would expect that. It is a bit longer than the prior model, but I will take that for being less wide.
I also like the fact that the battery compartment is a separate front piece that slides off. The old one was under the tie rack so if you keep it on the lower rack in your closet like I do it was a pain.

This was a replacement for a much older SI tie rack that had finally needed replacing. I thought the price was very fair and the installation was a breeze. it has a significant amount of capacity and the controls are easy to use. My only comment on how to improve the design is to offer a kit that would allow the tie rack to be mounted to the very common wire shelving that is installed in most closets today. It would seem very simple to add hangers off of the pole fastener to mount to the wire. I would recommend this product to all the men out there with a life time supply of ties.

Why didnt I get this sooner!
The ability to organize my ties is great. I will probably need another rack soon, and I will definitely be getting one more of these, or a newer model if available. The down side is when its full, it is difficult to get to the belts in the middle. The belt hooks should also be a little lower. The hook is just a little too close to the bottom of the rack. Otherwise, if you have ties, like I have ties, This is The Rack to get!.

I ordered the tie rack for my son. He received it on time. The instructions were not really that clear to understand. His question is how long will it last, how long will the batteries last before they need to be replaced. Other than that, he likes it better than stuffing his ties in a draw or on a coat hook.

We purchased a different bramd tie rack, but it wouldnt fit our older-style wooden closet rod. Only this Sharper Image Tie rack fits. The batteries are easy to change out as they are in the front of the unit.
The individual tie holders are a little narrow.....I hope really wide ties never come back in fashion!

This is my third purchase of a motorized tie rack over the years. This model works well with a round clothes rod but it seemed to be missing pieces for usage with wire shelving. I had to drill holes in the top and use parts from previously purchased tie racks.

Well, I thought I could use this for ties and belts, but the space between them was too narrow for belts - nor would the plastic rods hold belt weight. A couple of the rods came bent - cheap plastic. AND most importantly, it only hangs on a ROUND closet rod. If you have anything OTHER than a round closet rod, this will not work for you. Returning product.

First of all, I own two and both serve me well. Easy to install, designs fits most closets. Lights are bright and it holds a lot of ties (because I have a lot). The carousel is sturdy with extra hangers; however, you must learn the controls, rotator moves very fast. Ive owned another brand before but it broke but this one is definitely better.

It was the final component I was missing to store my belts and ties! No more belts and ties all over the floor and drooped over chairs. Now I can store everything in one compact location. It makes finding a belt or tie in the morning a PIECE OF CAKE. The controls and setup are ridiculously easy. The rotating tie clips and the lights make it the perfect device! So glad I found it.

I received an older model of a Sharper Image motorized tie rack as a gift; Im not sure how old it was. I put it up and was delighted with how it worked... just what I needed. Unfortunately, the plastic track which holds the ties broke after about a month and I was not able to get a replacement. However, because it worked so well for me, I decided to order a new one which is more attractive and has somewhat eaier controls to handle. I think the rubber track on the old one sort of dried out. It seems easy enough to replace but I am not sure if they tracks are available?

The tie rack is a perfect organizer for small closet spaces. It keeps my ties organized in all of the different colors for easy selection.

The packaging smashed one of the tie hooks, we had to bend it back to make it useful. Hopefully it did not weaken that particular hook. Suggest better packaging!

Overall I like the product. What I dont like is that it is made for a "pole" and my closet has the more modern wire racks. Also, when the battery goes dead, it is a pain to replace them.

Non-working motorized tie rack
Received the motorized tie rack 10 days ago. Put in the batteries as required. The LED lights came on BUT the rack itself did not turn (so it did not work). Called Sharper Image Customer Service and they said they will send a return pre-paid label to me and I would receive it in 2 business days. Well, I am still waiting for the return label to arrive after 10 days.

Finally my husband can deal with his ties. They were always dropping on the floor, my attempts to put in color order on hangars never worked. At end of week there would be 5 ties on doorknobs or on chairs. He now actually puts away when he takes off!!! Thank you!!
Works But Underpowered
Its very handy having a rotating tie rack but this one is underpowered. By the time you load it with 50 ties, it struggles to rotate at all. I actually had to order it twice. The first one rotated a few times, then quit for good. The second one rotates slowly and tentatively with a full load of ties. A more powerful motor would be better for this rack, or perhaps load it with fewer ties. Otherwise, it works fine.

Awesome Organization Gadget!
Prior to purchasing, my ties even organized, but on several hangers. This tie rack not only frees up space but it also allows one to view a large number of the ties at a quick glance. The rest, simply rotate with the motorized capability. Very useful for last minute tie decisions. Very happy I purchased.

Motorized Tie Rack
Most clothing rods are small now a days and made of metal. Previous model had an adaptor for this. This did not and I had to buu material to make the adjustment.

I bought this tie rack to replace a previous one (different brand and model)that fell apart after one year. My husband wears a suit daily to work, so a motorized tie rack is a must. This one seems sturdy and well-designed. The speed of movement is much faster than the previous model we had. It was easy to assemble. Overall we are very happy with this product. It was worth paying a little more to get this quality.

Not enough for the money
The device was easy to put together and install. It has plenty of rooms for ties. Unfortunately I have a lot of ties and I filled up most of the slots. The more ties I put on the slower the rack turns. At times it will not even move.
Good Replacement for the Original
My great original Sharper Image motorized tie rack had to be replaced. I needed a rack that held the same large number of ties and fortunately Sharper Image had one that fit the bill. This new rack rotates more quickly and quietly than the original. The only downside is that there is no provided mounting hardware for wire closet racks. Fortunately, you can use the hardware from the old tie rack, if you have one. There are even suggested drilling sites on the inside. The tie rack is a little off balance (the front end batteries tip it down) when mounted on a wire rack but its easy to insert a spacer of some sort (I used an empty C battery 2 pack box) at the back to keep it level. Overall, a good replacement.

I had purchased this product from Sharper Image years ago; the old one lasted almost 10 years. The new one is not as well constructed as the old one, and the controls are not as handy. I purchased two of this product; one worked out of the box, the other one had to be returned as it would not work. A handy product, but noisy, and not as well made as the older product. Nothing else like it on the market, though.

This would be a great tie rack except if you dont have a typical pole in your closet, it wont work. I have a white rack type closet system and this just doesnt fit properly. We tried rigging it every which way to no avail. Am very disappointed and will return.

The electric tie rack is phenomenal, I love it. Above all, my ties are all in order and easy to access. My only complaint is that I cant vary the speed at which the ties move. Im not a morning person and am not "all there" when I get up. ;-)

What can I say when you purchase an appliance in 1990 and its still working, no repairs, just batteries? I bought this when the Sharper Image had stores in the malls. I understand they got hip to the costs of square footage and now offer internet only.
It does take a little time to rotate, and the decibal level is a little high, but other than that, have to give credit where credit is due.

Rotating tie rack

Added the motorized tie rack to walk in closet project. Much improved storage and access to all my ties and center hangers are good for Trafalgar braces with loop. Ties have stayed put on hangers.

a *brilliant* closet organizer!
This is a truly awesome closet unit ... took the 50 or so ties that I had on a traditional tie hanger that had become clumped 2-3 to a rod and continuously fell to the floor. Now, I have a single level of ties that cycle left or right on command ... it really is awesome. My only minor complaints are that the plastic extensions upon which the ties are hung could be a bit more sturdy and accessing the belt hangers (four in the middle) can be difficult, because you have to go through the ties. The pros FAR outweigh the cons ... highly recommended.

my Sharper Image model of several years ago finally gave up the ghost, and I needed replacements. This Smartek unit is lighter and flimsier. the rotation is unusably slow, there are hesitations in the rotation, and the screws that tighten it up on the clothes bar (not shown int the pix) protrude too far to fit under the shelf in my application. Any of these is a deal killer, and all together... well.
Quality Product
This product is probably the on the market from my research. The mount is very wide on the top that covers the closet rod which leaves a big gap when using two tie racks side by side.
