Not the case. While Im sure it is doing a good job cleaning the air, I can tell a room in my house that has the Ionic running and which do not. Maybe it is a good thing I dont smell any difference when I walk into the room using this but for sure you can hear it running. 5 speed settings make it so you can clean the air in the room quite fast, but quite loud as well on the 5th setting. It really seems more like a high priced fan with some extra filters on the back of it.
