Finally I Can Sleep
As a tinnitis suffer, the Travel Sound Machine lets me sleep soundly through the night. My wife tells me I very rarely snore anymore and she feels more rested since my tossing and turning no longer interrupt her sleep. One sound machine, two rested sleepers. Cant do better than that!
Very nice!
Bought this as a b-day gift for my boyfriend after he commented that he likes the one I use at home (different model, about $20 more, larger and not portable). Since he travels out of the country for business and has trouble sleeping, I thought this would be perfect for him. Tried it out a few nights to make sure the sounds all work, etc. and its pretty cool. A wide variety of sounds to choose from. I especially like the zen bells sound, and of course the ocean waves.
Great little gadget!
Took this product on a visit to my mother. Works great! Heard what I needed to and not what I didnt (traffic, etc). After seeing it work, Mom bought a white noise machine, too!
Nice except for light
This is great to drown out noises when traveling. The sound options are nice and the volume is loud enough.The biggest drawback is the lighted time, it is too bright. I had to cover it up because it kept me awake.
Great product!
This is a great product that is easy to travel with, great for use in a babys room, and for adults with noisy kids. The only con so far is that you cannot turn off the backlight of the screen. Even though its dimmer than when the main light is on, its still too bright at night, so we have to turn the noise make around and cover it with something to dim the light. The only time the backlight turns off is when the machine is off, or when its only running on battery power.

Sleeing at night
My second one and I would buy a 3rd.
We are diamond level with delta, so heavy travelers. We never unpack it. We use the same kind of product at home. The battery runs down quicker when you let the alarm run for a long time. Just using it for the sound the batterys last a good length of time. I bought the second one because my husband forgot it in a hotel. I would buy a 3rd if we needed it. Great product, good selection of sounds.
Great little travel aid
My wife and I travel quite often and this is the perfect alarm clock to take along. It has a lighted display and a pleasing set of background noises for a comfortable sleeping environment.
Many different sounds, small and compact
My last sound machine from Sharper Image had a better design than this one. The volume control would go louder and the ac adapter plug was on the side. This ac adapter plug is in the back which prevents you from lying it down flat. The controls are a little confusing and took awhile to make them all work as the on/off button does too many things. I would prefer a separate on/off button like the last generation of sound machines by Sharper Image.
poor quality
very cheap looking and poor quality, I expected more from a Sharper Image product. The tabs that hold the battery cover in plance broke off the first time I opened it up and the button to set the alarm function did not work.

Too quiet
I had a white noise machine from Sharper Image that lasted over 20 years! I have since bought white noise machines from the big box stores and got sick of them breaking after just a few months of use. I found this SI white noise machine and jumped at buying one again. However, as solid as it is, its too quiet to mask my husbands CPAP machine. I would say on a scale of 1 to 10 noise level, Id give it a 4. It wouldnt mask people walking in the hall in a hotel.
Best soothing sounds alarm clock
I love the sounds available for the alarm clock. Generally its easy to use and easy to read ( if you want to check the time in the middle of the night). This purchase replaced an earlier version of this clock ( which I unfortunately dropped) and my only complaint is that the off switch for the alarm is no longer on the top so I dont find it as easy to turn off. Probably just a matter of retraining myself. On the upside this version has a leaner body and looks better.
Travel Sound machine.
We use every night traaveling or at home. It is very simple to set the clock and all the functions. I also like that it comes with it own international plug adapters, and doesnt require a transformer for changes in electrical current.
Love it - just what I was looking for...
Just what I was looking for - I am addicted to the soother sounds that my son was using so wanted one for our own. It travels well and has easy to use controls.
Almost perfect
I love it for sleeping as it covers my tinnitus. This is my second Sharper Image product as I had the old Sound machine with radio and C.D. player which finally gave out after 10 years.
I only wish thee was a way to shut of the back light when the unit is plugged in to A.C.

Travel Sound Machine
It has worked well for me as I have tinitus and keep it on the constant mode when I am sleeping. It is easy to travel with, although a little confusing when changing times to the travel mode. It has taken a little extra effort to learn the controls. One problem has appeared at once in while is that the current time has gotten off for no apparent reason and I have had to reset it.
superb alarm
I use this for my regular alarm as it is so soothing to wake up to birds singing or brooks babbling or wind blowing. It is a very gentle wake up.

Good travel alarm with sounds
Bought as replacement for previous Sharper Image product, which was a great product. A little disappointed that it requires 4 rather than 3 AAs, but the power adapter is compact. Setting times is easier than with previous model. A bit larger than previous model but still very packable.
Easy to use
This alarm clock was easy to set up and easy to use. I love the sound machine part of it. The white noise is the most used sound for our family when we travel. The only nature sound Im not fond of is the rain, it doesnt sound natural to me. Other than that I cant think of anything bad about this clock.

Very pleased with this item
I bought this to use when I travel to block out random noises at night. It seems perfect, so far. The item is just as described: compact, lightweight, and all sounds choices are clearly audible. The 4 AA batteries lasted for 6 nights. I am pleased with it and recommend it. Nothing negative to say about it.
Worth the investment
I use this at home and when traveling. Excellent option for noisy hotel rooms. Light weight and compact for travel. Like the lock option so my home settings are kept for travel. Controls well designed. Also like the auto,dimming feature on the unit. The extra long cord is handy too. Overall worth the purchase price. Cannot speak to the longevity of the product but expect it should be fine.
I would buy this product again and again
This is
my second one. The first one survived Hurricane Katrina by 6 years. I am hearing impaired and it is the only Alarm I have found to fit my needs. The sounds are especially good.

I have not yet traveled since purchasing this item, so I cant speak to battery life, but I did play around with it for some time after it arrived. I love the dual home/travel display that shows both times at once. I found the controls easy to use, and the sound quality is good. Its super lightweight and comes with travel adapters, which is a great feature. I love that it has a switch to keep the buttons from changing settings while packed. My old sound machine is really heavy and bulky, so this will really help save space and weight in my suitcase.

This is a great product!!
I purchased this product for a sailor having difficulty sleeping in his berth aboard an aircraft carrier. The many sound options reminded him of home and helped dull the outside noises of the cramped sleeping quarters. The dual time zones helped him keep track of best times to communicate back home. With limited storage space the size of the product and portability was perfect!!! Should be included in all military care packages!!
not so great
Wished I had purchased the $50.00 version but the internet description did not include an AC adapter that I later discovered in the SI magazine that came with this [$] Travel sound machine.I only enjoy the white noise setting and wish the machine had a volume control. Also it rattles unless you place something under it.This was a replacement for a SI sound soother purchased 10 years ago, so it should last a longtime. Bottom line the less expensive version-THE SOUND SOOTHER would have suited me better complete with an AC adapter.
Great little product!
I like that you can have the back light on when the unit is plugged in. It is hard to find a clock with a back light function these days. Having a clock and white noise in the same unit is great!

Had the older model and ordered this one. Not as heavy as the older model but the controls are somewhat hard to figure out. Otherwise a good product.
This is great
Love this. I frequently travel outside the US. My company houses us in a barracks like building. With everyone working different shifts, its required that minimal noise be made when coming and going. With this running in the background, it virtually wipes out the little noises that are none the less created.

Pretty much just what I wanted
Previous travel sound device (also from Sharper Image, years ago) finally "died." Researched for a substitute, and this was the closest. Only disappointment so far is that it doesnt have "Yosemite Falls" among its sound selections, which was our favorite.

traveling with the woodlandlands and surf
It is good looking, compact and sturdy. Nice light up background. The surf isnt as surf y as Id like, but the crickets and woods nightlife is what Im used to hearing in the summertime and very relaxing. I wake up with alarm tho, as some other calming may let me continue to sleep.. Ive only used the batteries, but it comes with all kinds of plug in devices for anywhere.Complicated start up.

Perhaps it was my overall frame of mind the one time I utilized this item which kept me awake a good portion of the night. I never wanted to try it again. The sounds generated did not drown the noise of cars in the street. I lay in bed thinking I would eventually fall asleep and wound up simply losing sleep. Not a great purchase for me.

I like almost everything about it. My one disappointment is how bright the blue light is when plugged in. In order to get the light down I have to resort to battery power. Wish there was a dimmer on the background light. Other than that it is just what I wanted.
I loved this!
I used this sound machine ever night for over eight years. It was the BEST machine I have seen! It lasted through my high school year, moving to college, traveling around countries, and a few more moves from dorm to dorm. It actually died a month after a friend of mine spilled water all over it. I would recommend this to anyone! My favorite sound is Asian garden, its always relaxing.
Disappointed
Volume control is not useful. Hard to regulate either too high or too low. Not user friendly. The old one is.,I would suggest that you get some more innovative sounds. E.g. More zen noises. More relaxing noises.
Very good little sound machine
We use every night to block out ambient noise. We take when we travel. Has alarm settings for home and travel. Only con is the blue light that the front emits. On the original model you could turn it off. I have to block it with paper.

Good selection of sounds. Compact. Brought batteries, but did not use them. Best thing: did not need converter or European plug adapter for use in Western Europe.

I have been in themilitary for 20 years and travel extensively. Without this, I would not get restful sleep ever. So much so, that when I doze off, I will wake up from the obvious silence that is my missing "RAIN". The bad news is that I have used this so many years that when it rains out (especially a particularly heavy one), I am automatically lethargic and sleepy. :) Classical conditioning works! LOL. I recommend this to anyone that is a light sleeper or travels. It takes only a few nights to get used to the ongoing sound, then it is slumber-city!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! :)

I have one of the original Sharper Image Sound machines. Which I love! I wanted a small one for traveling instead of packing the original. The volume on the travel machine was totally inadequate. It didnt go loud enough. For [$] this should not be a factor. Unfortunately, Ill continue to pack my good old original and send this one back.

Travel Sound Machine...
Pros- Small and easy to handle. Works great and keeps those annoying sounds out of your sleep time. I am sleeping better and so is my spouse.
Cons - Price is on the high side, I feel! Also IF you can see, let alone read the directions on how to set the clock you are all set. I found them difficult to see and read even with my glasses.
I have recommended this item to family members who have the same problem with a spouse who snores all night long!
We plan on taking this on a trip in the next few weeks!
My new sound machine
I wish the blue light would go OFF when the clock is plugged in. My old sound clock light was on or off (my choice) plugged in or on batteries.

I was looking for battery operated white noise for sleeping in the camper. This totally fits the bill with plenty choices of sounds. A Sleep Life Saver
I do not have this exact product, because I bought a Travel Sound Machine from, The Sharper Image, 11 years ago. I am a Flight Attendant, and it has been a life saver on layovers. It blocks out doors slamming in the middle of the night, at the Hotel, and maid service in the morning. I also use it at home. The best!!!! Today I purchased a Sound Soother White Noise Machine (that is not a travel machine to keep in my bedroom at home),so I do not have to take it in and out of my flight bag all the time. Thumbs UP!!!!

This has been one of my favorite purchases from Sharper Image! Initially this was planned for use with our travel-music,alarm,small size plus the soother sounds. But quickly found the best use has been when the grandkids stay overnight. They take great delight in going through all the soother sounds until they find the perfect one for that night! Have found they quickly drift off to sleep & stay that way all night! This would be a good gift for new parents as well as new grandparents!
when it works, its great
I use a sound machine during frequent trips. this is replacing an earlier model that broke (although I also have a still earlier models that continues to work). Since I do a lot of international traveling, this new feature is wonderful.
My problem is: the first one I was sent stopped working after an hour. the replacement seems fine so, fingers crossed.

MARVELOUS for tinnitis sufferers
I use this because I suffer from Tinnitis. I initally thought on buying it, that it could only be used for the 30, 60, or 90 min intervals described on the packing, and unfortunately gave it a bad rating on the [@] site. However, it can run continuously. I use it with headphones so I dont disturb my wife. Finding quality headphone is VERY difficult.
Best birthday gift for my wife, ever
My wife hears everything at night. House noises, the cats downstairs, my snoring, the dogs outside and such. She uses the device off and on, but, she knows that if she needs it, it will be there, which allows her to drift off to sleep without it. It is a great back-up she knows she always has as an option, if she needs it.
I would recommend this product.
We use this when we travel to block out other noises and also as an alarm to wake us when aboard a cruise ship in different time zones. It is more reiable than depending on our cell phones.

Best Things are in Small Packages
This is the second Sharper Image Travel Sound Machine that Ive had. Although I loved the first, and used it for years, this one is better. Slimmer, and thus easier to fit on my night table, and darker, so that it blends with the bamboo, are characteristics that I appreciate, but which are secondary. More important, the time numerals are bigger, and it is considerably easier to set. But most of all, it seems tailored to my lifestyle. I have to get up twice during the night, and using both the "home" alarm and the "travel" alarm by simply touching one button makes this little machine made for me. I have also used a white noise souned blocker for decades(at first to eliminate the street noises of NYC) and really appreciate the variety of truly soothing sounds over just white noise that both of your products have offered. If there were a radio, it would be even more perfect, but then that is inherently impossible!

New and Improved
I have been using an older version of this for years. The travel lock is a great improvement. More than once my old sound machine would come on in my luggage. Also having the back light stay on when the unit is plugged in is a great feature. Most travel alarms require you to push a button to see the time.
Genius Design
I had an earlier Sharper Image sound machine, but its over 10 years old. This new model is even better.
There are more soothing sounds, and the design is impressive. The electrical plug comes with quick-fit adaptors for in-wall connection throughout the world (the transformer automatically switches voltage), yet you can use just battery power if you choose. The controls on the unit are intuitive and well-labeled. A terrific new feature is the lock-unlock switch on the back, which ensures your settings are not inadvertently changed.
I was so enthusiastic that I took the box to my local travel store and told them they should carry the Travel Sound Machine. It is remarkable!
Great machine,small, easy to use.
After using one of your Sound Soothers for about 10 years,it wore out. In looking for a replacement, the Travel Sound Machine met more of my requirements. It is small, compact, easy to operate, good sound, and I can use on my bedside table at home, put it in my carry-on luggage.

I am a flight attendant and I need to sleep with "white noise" to either drown out noise from hotels or quietness. I like that you can use ear plugs for this sound machine and that is the way I use it the most. Its perfect for my lifestyle and being in different hotels a few days a week.
Not loud enough!
Bought none from sharper image years ago, lasted long time . Many travels, bought this one, white noise not loud enough , breaks up , choppy sound at higher volumes. Settings not as straight forward as the older ones. Back light better though.
3rd one may be the best
This is my 3rd TSSM from Sharper Image. I cannot sleep without background noise due to left ear problems. I found out if I use ear-buds as the delivery source for the sound my ear doesnt go haywire. My Aunt had the same problem and lost her hearing in her problem ear. My crackling ear started 25 years ago and my ear still works due the stimulation of my Eustachian tube. This a new design with better thunderstorm sounds, which I prefer. Great product as I dont disturb the wife with the loud box fan which didnt help my ear problems.

Useful to be moved from room-to-room if user does not always sleep in same location. Sounds are very clear and pleasantly life-like.
Sound and Light
Good product, but two big negatives -
1) the blue clock background is very bright in a dark room.
2) the highest volume is not loud enough to drown out some average noises.
That said, it was a constant sound without blips or squawks and I think we will use it quite a bit.

We replace an older sound machine with this purchase. The new one is great. It is lighter, easier to use, and has more sounds. We like the new sounds as we feel they are better than the old ones. When using head phones the old machine had a low buss, the new machine does not had any buss or distracting noises when useing the head phone. A Great buy
Its just what I needed
I am a flight attendant and put many hours in each month. I stay at numberous hotels and getting asleep and staying asleep are always a problem. With the sound machine I have one constant noise all night long ... Its amazing what a blessing it has been for me. I truely love it.

Cant live without it
I have had this for the last 13 years and this is my 3rd one. My husband bought it in case something happened to my current one. I started having trouble sleeping after 911 and when a friend of mine took her own life. I did not want to start taking sleeping pills. I just plug a headset into this and listen to the birds, waves, rain, or whatever else I may choose. I also work some night shifts and this comes in handy when I am trying to sleep during the day. It provides stress relief to busy days or nights and the best thing is that it is "all natural". It truly is the best thing I have ever purchased and I never leave on vacation without checking twice to make sure its in my suitcase.
Pricey but Nicey
We found we were sleeping better when running the vaporizer on sub-freezing nights due to "white noise" reducing "wake-ups" from spouse moving around. We read reviews on several machines, bought this one despite fairly high price because reviews were good. It is performing as advertised. We have found some sounds too "lively" [relaxing, but not consistent enough to sleep with] but so far found at least three very good ones. Only wish we could turn off the night light when using the AC adapter/cord. Have not used it on battery -- battery life could be an issue if you leave it on all night since it uses AA batteries.
Travel Sound Machine
I use this sound machine with a headband with built in speakers. It has the jack I needed.I love the choice of sounds. Great range for volume. No matter what we did we could only get the travel alarm to work, so the dual alarm option was not available. Luckily this was not a problem for me, but might be for some.
Excellent Product - Sweet Dreams
This is an excellent product that serves extremely well as a radio, night table alarm clock and as a superb sleep inducer through the relaxing variety of multiple ambient sounds.
I am so pleased with the performance of this ambient sound clock radio, that I ordered one more to give as a gift to my daughter.
Not what it used to be
I had an earlier version of this sound machine and it endured many years of almost constant use. I was very disappointed with this latest version. It did not have the same sturdiness, sound quality, or sound volume. I returned the machine.
Good, but...
Wanted this clock for the noise maker, which is fine. But surprisingly, the number display light cannot be turned off while sleeping. Im surprised because many of us who cant sleep due to external noises are also bothered by light. The clock is being returned as a result. Theres an app for noise on iPhones...

I use a sound machine every night, and when I travel, I need one that is compact and durable. So far, this one is perfect.
Travel Sound Machine
Older version did not include a power converter for international travel. Sensitive electronics would not survive even a short power surge of 220 volts. I destroyed two units over the years on foreign trips because of this even on supposed 110 outlets.
Newest model comes with a built in converter as well as an assortment of plug adapters.

A good nights sleep away from home is not always easy to come by! But for many years we have traveled with a sound machine so that sleep doesnt elude us. Our machine finally bit the dust, so we purchased the Sharper Image Machine for travel and find it actually better than the "other brand". Great Ocean Wave Sounds
I have difficulty getting to sleep. The sounds, especially the ocean waves, are very condusive to falling asleep. This is what I purchased this for so it definitely serves me well. I admit, though, I have not learned how to use the alarm successfully.
My sleep savior!
I got this cause I travel with my spouse every week to his different job sites and I have a very hard time sleeping in all the different hotels. And he snores so I thought Id give it a try....I LOVE IT! Its the perfect size in fact I put it in my purse. I love going to sleep to the relaxing sounds...much like when you go to a spa while getting a massage. So happy with it!!

This is only slightly bigger than my old travel clock but it is both a sound machine and clock in one. The sounds are really nice and the clock is easy to read. Im really pleased with the unit. Most of the weight is from the 4 AA batteries that are required unless you plan to plug it in and not use the batteries. The cost is well worth it!!

Have the larger Sound Machine at home which I use every night. I got this one for when I travel for work or vacation. Helps drown out all of those distracting noises that keep me from falling asleep. Greatly improves my sleep quality.
This is a nice sound machine
I just got this so havent traveled with it yet, but I got it out, set it, and played with it. Easily set both times and checked out all the sounds. I liked several of them and the volume seems to go loud enough. Its much smaller than my older one so Im very happy about that--will fit much better in a suitcase. I am glad it plugs in--I no longer have to worry about the batteries dying in the middle of the night! But it runs on batteries too, if you want. It has a continuous setting so it will run all night--which is what I wanted. It has the timed settings too. I havent tried to set the alarm yet. All in all I am very pleased with it and look forward to traveling with it! I bought this one because of all the positive reviews--and I am glad I did!

The sound is better than my old unit and the battery life is much better. It is a little difficult to shut off the alarm and the sound in the dark.

Purchased to cancel highway noise by my apt.. Chose this model because it is both battery and electric powered. Love the size. Sits on my bed side table very neatly. The only thing is setting it up. Im not tech-savy, so took me a half-hour to do. Then its just one button to push! Try it! Youll like it!

I use it every night while away from home. I use a fan at home. I need a steady sound like a fan so I use the white noise option. This replaces a similar machine that I also got from Sharper Image that I had for probably at least 10 years. Somehow on my last trip got some liquid on it that damaged it and it slowly died. I was so happy I found a sound machine just like the one I had. The only difference is some of the control buttons are in different places and it doesnt have my favorite sound, "Yosemite Falls" which was even better than white noise. Otherwise I am very happy with this machine. I have used it on several trips already. No complaints.

Ive had a similar Sharper Image device for about 20 years always at my bedside. The old one still works! I decided to upgrade to this all digital version of the same product, except this one allows you to record a wakeup sound youd like to wake up to as well as the ones programed on it. On the road never worry about hotel noises with white noise.

We have used a sound machine at home that we purchased from Sharper Image about 20 years ago. It has worked like a champ but it is starting to develope some issues. So...we purchased this sound machine for our travels and also for at home when our old one finally quits working. We hope the new sound machine works half as well as our first one.

This is my "everyday" alarm clock and I couldnt be happier with it! The sound is delightful (I like the "Asian Garden" sound best) and the controls are easy to operate. Everything is quite intuitive. I looked at a large number of clocks online and they all had pretty high negative ratings. I finally found this that people liked and I can sure see why. I run it entirely on batteries and the batteries seem to last a long time. (It does have an AC cord you can use, but I dont like cords all over so I stick to the battery option....)
One thing thats nice is that the sound starts more quietly and increases, so you dont get jolted out of a sound sleep. Also, the light comes on (a gentle, blue light) too, and that sometimes is enough to awaken you.
All in all, a wonderful clock and very highly recommended!!

Replaced an Earlier Model
I use it every night, all night to help me sleep. I use the white noise sound. This replaced an older Travel Soother model that I purchased 10 to 12 years ago. The backlight is so bright, I had to rearrange things so it behind me. I miss the temperature readout that my older model had.

Our last Sound Machine went kaput when my husband tried to plug it into an outlet in Madrid. This new machine comes with a set of plugs compatible with most countries, so that wont happen again. We use this every night, at home or away, to mask out all that noise that keeps you awake at night. From train whistles to banging doors, this is a travelers best friend. Highly recommended.
Great Sound, But....
I have tinnitus, so having a sound machine helps me to sleep. This is a good product, very sturdy and the sound is the best Ive tried. Just one thing to note. It must emit some kind of frequency that dogs dont like. When we first turned it on, one of our dogs started trembling uncontrollably. Not something that ever happened to him. Soon as we turned it off, he started to calm down. Now I turn it on softly in our bedroom, but our two dogs will not come into the room anymore. They always slept in our room (not our bed), but now they wont. That part is okay with me!

Travel Sound Machine
The original Sharper Image sound machine/radio had a lot more volume then this sound machine only model. Turned all the way up, it provides just enough sound to block noises but I would have expected a louder model

I use this as my daily alarm clock because I am tired of loud alarms that stress me out in the morning. It has so many choices for wake up sounds which is great but there is a beeping alarm as well. Works very well in hotel rooms to drown out any unwanted noise.
Travel Sound Machine
Owned the last model for about 7 years. Loved it! Decided to spend the money and buy another one because I was satisfied with my first. The only thing that I noticed that was different was that the volume does not go as high as my last one. I was disappointed with that feature. The reason for the machine is to block out the noise while at hotels and different locations when traveling. I am not sure why the level does not go high enough. Otherwise, the size and all the other features I am pleased with. The volume is pretty important tho!
Disappointing; Inadequate Volume.
I wanted a new compact, dual volt, travel sleep mate with an AC adapter. This was needed to replace my current Sharper Image, battery only, sleep mate that has served me well for 10+ years of travel. On-screen, this new model fit the bill and has a good, boxy shape - best for packing. It also has a reasonable sized plug and world adapters - a complete package for travelling. The on/off lock is a smart addition too - something my current model needs and lacks. Unfortunately, although its actually bigger and bulkier than my current model, it produces far less volume. In fact, the max volume is entirely inadequate to be an effective noise masking, sleep sound machine. Whoever designed this thing obviously doesnt need, use or depend on a sleep mate or sound soother for sleeping in a noisy environment. Its excessively large for such an inadequate sound output. Ive reluctanly returned it and will stick with feeding my current one batteries until a better model shows up.

Always take our "soother" on vacations. It helps if the resort is too quiet, and helps if the resort is too noisy. With background noise, sleep is always better on vacation. This is our second Sharper Image travel noisemaker, and havent seen any competitors product that looks better.
Best Sound Machine For Travel Out There
This is the best sound machine for traveling I have found. It doesnt have the big sound power of a larger at home only system, but it produces more than enough sound to work when I travel and even at home. The sound quality is really good. The compact size and 2 time zone clock is really sweet! It has plenty of sounds (19), with white noise being my favorite. It even has a voice memo feature and an amazing adapter with plugs you can switch for different countries. This unit is tough to beat.

I used this every night - all night. I would wake up when it shut off, so I let it run all night. I never used batteries, and the machine died after only 1 and a half years. It was small and light enough to travel with .

I bought this to replace one that I had purchased several years before. This one does not seem as sturdy as the one I previously owned and does not have a room temperature reading like the old one did.
Sharper Image Sound Machines First Rate
I love my new Sharper Image sound machine. I have used a SI for over ten years. I would give this the top rating but it cant compare to the SI Sound Soother 20, no longer available. But dont hesitate getting the Travel Sound Machine if you need a new machine. It has most but not all of the features you need in a sound machine. The only issue I have is that the night light is way too bright. It needs to be able to go dark. In spite of that I highly recommend it.

How this new one compares to the old one
I keep this model by my bed and also take it on trips. I use the battery option exclusively. I especially miss having the temperature on it. And, for me personally, I dont need to have the other time zone display showing. It is very sturdy, I am just sorry that it is heavier than the old model because it will add weight to my carry-on. If I would have realized it was heavier and didnt have the temp I might have researched other products before purchasing. I bought it because of the white noise rain sound. And I also like that one of the sounds is for acclimating to new time zones.

I have owned several similar sound machines, which I rely on during my frequent travels. I am a light sleeper, especially in unfamiliar sleeping surroundings, but, the sound machine makes me feel at home, as soon as I shut my eyes. I like the dual time/alarm settings that I can program ahead and have one less thing to worry about. The electric power converter/adaptors is handy, but I rely on the battery backup for convenience and assurance.

Great compact sound machine
When the alarm clock is plugged in the light stays on but when the alarm is in battery mode only, the light stays off except when you press one of the buttons. This is great because it conserves the battery. The sound machine is great. It would be nice if it was a little smaller and had a hard case for travel to protect it.

I had a travel sound machine from Sharper Image before that I loved and accidentally fried it when I plugged it into a socket overseas. This version is much better because it comes with the built in converter and multiple plugs to use when you travel outside the US (though I havent tried this feature out yet). I like a machine that offers plain white noise and some out there do not. I would buy this product again. Its compact and really blocks out small noises that wake up a light sleeper like me.

When we travel, my wife and I use a "white noise" generator to mask the sounds of unfamiliar surroundings. This sound machine is small, lightweight, and easy to carry and it offers a lot of options for sounds, from white noise to babbling brooks to rain to the sound of a train whistle in the distance. Listening to it is relaxing and helps us sleep in new places. The only downside: the charger is bulky and the carrying case for the sound machine is not big enough to accommodate the charger; so, the charger must be packed separately or you must depend on batteries, which I dont like to do.

Compact and works well
My husband used to travel a lot for work and he would take a big bulky fan for white noise in the hotel room, so I gave him this for his birthday and he likes it a lot. We travel by air pretty often for pleasure too and this is lightweight and compact enough that we can take it with us without taking up much space in the suitcase at all. The volume could be a little louder but it works well enough. There are a variety sound choices but we only use the fan noise which kind of sounds like static. Have not tried the alarm function.

I keep a "white noise" machine by my bed; it blocks out annoyances and helps me to sleep better. Since I will be traveling soon, I looked for a portable, battery-powered version. This one is amazing; it does what I wanted and ALSO serves as a travel alarm. Delivery was prompt, and the item is well-designed and appropriate for my needs.

When you need help in going to sleep
I wanted a sound machine to plug into the electric current. The volume controls are good as is the variety of sounds: some for sleeping, others for waking. My only negative remark is that the machine gives off a little too much light, which isnt helpful when trying to drop off to sleep.
Perfect for our needs
We had an earlier model of this machine from Sharper Image, and it worked perfectly for around fifteen years. When it recently stopped working reliably, we did a travel sound machine product search and found that the reviews for the Sharper Image were the best. We just took it on a trip, and it worked wonderfully as expected. We only use the white noise setting, but are tempted to try others. On our most recent trip, my flight was delayed and I had to, unexpectedly, stay at an airport motel. My travel machine was already in luggage on the way to my final destination, and unfortunately--although I was able to get some white noise from the motel room fan--my sleep was definitely not as good as it would have been, if I had my travel machine with me.
Love this improved version
The two best features of this machine are not mentioned in the online item description. First, it runs on dual wattage, so can be used for travel overseas. Also, you can leave the batteries in it while operating on electricity, so it is not necessary to remove them when changing from battery power to electric. This is a smaller improved model of a previous model and I like this one much better. It is lighter and smaller. It also has a sound called Jet Lag, which is a combination of nature, music, and unidentified sounds designed for relaxation and resetting your inner clock. Dual time is also a plus and very easy to change.

STOPPED WORKING WHEN NEEDED
After much study of the complicated directions I got the thing to work while at home. I bought it for a trip & it stopped working while on that trip so after all that work it was useless to me and I am returning it.

Bought this for a trip to Hawaii and it worked perfectly. Helped to overcome the jetlag both going and coming home. Use it almost every night. Especially appreciate the variety of realistic sounds that provide a soothing background at night.

It is outdated
I purchased a portable sound machine from you about ten years ago and I really love it. It has the plug on the side of the machine which is so much better because you can tuck it up against anything and still see the time. It is also much easier to program and also has the room tempature on the face of the clock. It is also more compact then the one I just received. This new sound machine clock looks like it is thirty years old...he design is not good. I also dont like the light that stays on all the time when it is plugged in. I will keep this sound machine clock because I cant find the same one I already have, and I am afraid that my old one is about to quit working. I need the white noise because of my work schedule.. The old clock has traveled all over with me and has taken quite a beating and it keeps on working. I wish you would try to restock the one you sold many years ago.......
Sharper Image Had Exact Machine I Wanted
I got this same machine many years ago, and LOVED it. Lent it to my daughter, and it stopped working. I wanted the exact product as before, so I thought of The Sharper Image, and YES, there it was. So happy and excited. I love that it is compact, comes with plugs that can adapt to different countries, works on batteries alone, has time, date and alarm settings for both home and travel, and has 19 different white sounds. I take it with me everywhere. I cant live without it. As far as I am concerned, there is nothing negative about this product. THANK YOU!

Sounds much too low
I returned product as I needed it to drown out noise at night. I prefer white noise but it was too low even at highest level.
Its great after you figure it out
It took a while to figure out a on this machine. The "sound alarm" mode does not work if you have the regular sound going until alarm time. The alarm will only be "beeping " mode then. There is no mention of this in the instructions. It took me two machines for me to figure that out.
Im concerned about durability, as this is the second machine I have purchased in a little over a year. The first one died, I couldnt find a suitable replacement, so I reluctantly purchased this second. I hope it lasts because if is a wonderful machine when it is working.
