Review Content An Almost Perfect Humidifier I really like the 1.6 gallon model for the reasons checked, however disappointed with the lack of cleaning instructions in manual for the 1.6 gallon model. In addition, online sources provided no cleaning instructions for the 1.6 gallon, which made for a long draw out process. Breathing better I just purchased the humidifier and have used it for 2 nights. It is totally silent and has made a big difference. I will give it 5 stars. The instuction manual that came with it does not tell you how to clean the unit or what to do with the cartridges. I had to call (5 stars cust. service) Then I had to print manual from another model. Not pleased about the cost and frequency of changing the cartridges. Great I have both the single and the double resevoir humidifiers. They really make a difference when the heater is always on. We live in the Northwest where it snows as well is getting the Arctic Blast at least once a year. When that happens the very low temterature makes the environmet extra dry. The humidifier is a necassary component in our life. No Instructions The instructions included only contain the dos and donts. It doesnt have instructions for operating. Im unable to locate instructions through the internet or through customer service. Not all it could be This unit does its main job well enough... creates a healthy mist that humidifies our master bedroom. However, it makes a mess in doing so. The mist isnt shot up into the air far enough, even at full fan speed. The mist condenses on the unit, and causes a messy pool around it. The top has a cool looking grate on the top, but it just traps more condensation, and is impossible to clean or wipe up. The caps on both tanks are needlessly difficult to close, with very fine threads. These will be stripped the first time my wife fills this. Not a bad choice, but this would get 5 stars if not for several design flaws. KC Like it a lot. I like that i dont have to refill so often since it has two good size water reservoirs. It is quiet and working well. The only feature that would make it ideal would be if the area where the steam came out would be longer and able to be directed out farther from the tank. (instead of a flat hole). Other than that I am very happy with it! Awesome Humidifier This is a great humidifier. Whisper quiet, very effective, and easy to use. Minimal cleaning needed. Just replacement of demineralization cartridge every couple of months. The best value compared to other humidifiers on the market. Helped tremendously with our daughters cough and runny noses (2 yr old). A great little humidifier. Does not need to be filled everyday due to the two water tank design. Nice as long as it worked! I searched and searched for just the right humidifier and thought Id found it. I got a great price "somewhere else." I started using it in mid-February 2010 and used it for the rest of the winter, maybe a couple months. Yesterday, Nov. 6, 2010, I decided it was time to turn it on again. After filling it up with water (I DO like the two tanks....makes it easier to fill) I turned it on, the light came on, but NO power!! It will not run!! I am NOT happy!! I dont like the idea of all the hassle in having to return it even though it does have a one year warranty. It CERTAINLY should last longer than a couple months!!!!!!!! Works Perfect! Humidifiers are a staple of life in Colorado. 20%-30% humidities are commonplace in winter, and your house dries out futher with a forced air furnace. I have a 4,000 sq. ft. home and a whole house humidifier on the furnace, but that needs a boost to reduce static electricity, dry skin and noses, as well as preserve the wood floors and blinds. This unit sits QUIETLY in the living / dining / kitchen area of the home. We fill one tank per day with the output set just above the 1/2 way mark. Set the control so that the mist goes straight up, without falling. If the mist is visibly falling you will end up with moisture on the top of the unit plus the floor or furniture it sits on. (Water on the floor is not water in the air, so dont turn it up too high!) Im blessed to live in an area with soft / pure water from the tap, so no calcium dust issues. The tanks are VERY easy to fill and I have had no issues screwing the caps back on, nor leaking. Controls are very easy to use. Great value at 50%-60% of the Working again!?!? OK, my humidifier mysteriously started working again! Dont know WHY it was being stubborn with me for the last couple of days! Breathing in Dust The white dust blown from this thing was remmarkable! We dont have hard water but used the de-mineralizing capsules anyway - AND also used purfied water. We still had white dust over everything. It looked like we had sheet-rockers working in our home! We used it in the bedroom and found ourselves choking from the dust in our lungs. Definitely returning this unit. Only makes sense that a product that started out with a price of [$] - reduced to [$] and then sold on QVC where I bought mine, to [$] should not be a favorite. I will be returning mine. User manual is worthless Id love to review how this product functions, but the user manual is so completely worthless that I cant tell you! The unit comes without any instructions as to how one actually fills the tanks with water, what to do with the demineralization cartridge (which shouts READ THE MANUAL BEFORE USING on its package), where to place the unit for optimal usage, and whether it automatically shuts off once the desired humidity is reached. Its possible this could be a good product, but since I dont dare turn it on without knowing why the warning label screams at me to read the demineralization cartridge instructions before using for the first time! Not to mention there doesnt appear to be any opening for water!! Stops working after a year Makes everything damp thats around the humidifier, only lasted for a year and then just completely shut off. Its also really bulky. Not worth the money I run humidifiers all winter. I purchased this one thinking it was going to be as good as the Germguardian ones that I use as well. No such luck. This humidifier, though is extremely quiet makes a large puddle from the condensation. I would recommend saving your money and purchasing a Germguardian humidifier. Not impressed at all for the price! Bought it, LOVED IT, bought two more! Ive bought so many bad humidifiers. Finally the perfect one! Was on my sons baby registry and I loved it so much I got one for my bedroom and also my mom whose condo always feels so dry! stop working I bought this humidifier for my wife for christmas. Today 2/15/10 it stop working. I am not happy after paying the amount of money for this . Greatest Product of its kind I use this product every night and it is whisper quiet. The easiest to clean with the removal of a few screws. Double water tank lasts almost a week on "half spray" in the middle of the dial. Works great, but impossible to clean The humidifier itself works great, and re-filling with water is easy. It is also a good looking unit. But the area where the water accumulates in the base gets gunky after a few weeks, although that is fine - cleaning that and the tanks periodically wouldnt be an issue. But there are other parts of the base unit that need to be cleaned also (get a red film on them) and they simply cannot be cleaned because the space is too narrow to get into). Definite design flaw. A fine humidifier The engineering on this unit is extremely good. You can easily take the water reservoirs off and transport the unit. it will pour out the humidity day after day and there are no water spills like those from other humidifiers. leaks water I bought this to use since my daughter and I both suffer from asthma and allergies....it is quite...until drip..drip... If you dont get the bottom caps on tight enough the water will pool up in the bottom and then over flow. (okay I know what tight is. It appeared to be on correctly. I even held the chamber upright to see if any water was dripping out before I put it on the unit and it wasnt dripping) Ive tried several brands and thought this one would be a good choice since it has two chambers and would not require me to fill it all the time. I have yet to find the perfect humidifier...one that disperses water out rather than up and down onto the unit and floor around it. I put it on a tv tray stand out in the hallway at least 2ft. off the ground as suggested....still the floor is damp. I have allergies...I think of wet and damp = mold and bateria. I guess I will keep looking. Very disappointed in this product. Love it! I bought the double tank unit in Feb. of 2010 to help my son with his croup. I have been very happy with the unit, so much so that I purchased to single tank unit for my daughters room. We havent had a single problem with either unit. They are both quiet and we have not had any problems with condensation as others have reported. Overall, I would highly recommend this product. Positives and Negatives Pretty good humidifier, but the deminerizaion cartridges cost [$] per cartrdige plus shipping Fabulous!!! This product is wonderful, very quiet, easy to use, and really works well. Turn it on and forget it! Ive been using this for 2 winters now and it works great. If too much condensation is on and around the unit, I know it is up too high so I turn it down just slightly to stop the moisture. It is whisper quiet and runs several days before you have to fill it. The tanks are easy to change but I will say the nobs are on so tight it is hard to get them to turn. I highly recommend this unit. Just ok. Not great. I purchased this one and the single tank. My husband and I use the double tank for our dining and living rooms and the single tank for our bedroom. We have forced hot air, so in the winter it gets very dry and it can cause static electricity throughout our house. We had a humidifier before this that we liked alot, but it was too small to combat the two main rooms; and we had to move it to the bedroom every night (pain in the behind). We also didnt like having a filter that had to be cleaned so often. So thats why we decided to get a filter-less. Both of them do their job very well. But because it says in the manual that purified water SHOULD be used if you dont want the white dust that comes out, it makes me feel like we wasted our money. And they are NOT cheap! The dust is all over our furniture and requires us to wipe everything down atleast 4-5 times a week, to keep things from looking dirty. We will absolutely not spend even more money to put purified water in these things! My husband now hates them Great price, works well So far so good Works Perfectly! Love it! I have dry eye in the Winter and needed a quality cool mist humidifier for my bedroom and family room. I have 7 warm mist humidifiers, but they are related to producing mold and hard to clean. This humidifier puts out mist immediately, does not get much build up of minerals, and can run for at least 24 hours without a refill. I will likely purchase another one very soon. I love it and I have searched for a quality humidifier for years.......finally found one! I love this product! Surprised to find it at The Sharper Image. looks good works great works great The best..finally I have bought several humdifiers, finally I have the great one. Very quiet,hardly know it is running,strong stream of moisture,I bought the double tank and it runs for 3 days before having to refill. Simple dials no fuss no mess and no filters.Simply the best household product I have bought in many years! Disappointed Very disappointed in this humidifier. Did NOT like the mist output. Didnt feel the straight up mist put as much moisture in the air. Top of unit got "gunky" within a week. No directions as to accessing the nebulizer area. Just plain disappointed in Sharper Image product. Good Product I use my humidifier all during the winter season and it seems to make a big difference in my house. I bought my first one a few years ago and was so impressed than I bought this one for my Dads house. There is a little bit of white film that forms on furniture but I just wipe it off. For the most this is a very simple unit to use and I hope they continue to make this model. The less dials and complicated to operate.... the better for most people. Thats why I like this model, its very simple to use.
