After having used a rabbit- type wine opener for many years, my husband saw a friend's motorized opener and wanted to try one. We decided Sharper Image would probably have a reliable product...and we were right! An additional benefit is that I no longer have to ask him to open a bottle for me when I need wine for a recipe; the motorized opener requires no "brute strength"!

I actually already had my own Oster Meyer electric wine opener for my place but I loved it so much that I wanted to get one for my boyfriend for his birthday so that's why I bought this one. I like it ok, it works fine but it's a little loud and if you don't hold it perfectly straight it kind of shreds the cork but for the most part it was good.

It pulls the cork out fine but won't eject the cork!!! Cork is stuck inside just spinning round and round and we have to use pliars to twist it back out. We tried both buttons to eject but it does't work.

The unit worked great for about 3 months. Then would not recharge and has not worked since. would not recomend to my friends.

My initial experience with this product provided not only amazement and delight, but satisfaction in that it quickly accomplished an oftentimes miserable and incomplete task while trying to gain access to the treasure within a wine bottle. The cork-pulling task now becomes practically effortless and fun, particularly when aided by the foil cutter. All one has to do now is expose the cork by removing the foil, position the corkscrew and push a button. Oh yes, by pushing the button again the cork can be easily removed from the screw. Voila!! All in all, a clever, fun, and practical product, indeed.


Synthetic Corks are a problem,  February 27, 2010

I received one of these wine openers as a gift. And it is wonderful .... except on synthetic corks. Don't try to use it on chilled wine with a synthetic cork. The corkscrew part broke off in the cork, but I liked it so much I'm buying another. It does have the best foil cutter ever!
